Has lords of shadow given you a new love or hope for the series? I for one feel a new anxiousness in waiting for dlc and a sequel. Going back to a more traditional feel was a great move.. I think igarashi has rode the metroidvania style to death and he's kinda hatin on this rendition. So what do you guys think? Has this refreshed your fan eyes?

There's been no indication that Iga has been 'hatin' on anything MercurySteam has done with regards to Castlevania.

However, I personally can say that this is an excellent entry into the series.

So far I'm enjoying lords of shadow, though I'm not too far, I'm only at Cornell now. While I like the game a lot, I don't particularly like it as a Castlevania game. So far it doesn't feel like CV, the atmosphere make it feel more like a traditional medieval story or something from Tolkien, which I'm not really a big fan of. It doesn't have that gothic feel, but like I said, I'm only at Cornell, that could change.

I'm going to look forward to a sequel and the DLC, but I hope Iga still does his games. I'm just glad this doesn't fit into the traditional canon. I hope it stays with the two seperate storylines
What a horrible night to have a curse!

I've been loving LoS since the day it was released. It's a beautiful game and fun to play. The only complaints I have about the game are very minor and easy to deal with...basically little complaints we could have about any game. They definately don't lessen my enjoyment of the game whatsoever. I like how the game keeps building upon itself and each level gives you the feeling you're inching closer and closer to something bigger or more important. It's definately a great entry into the series and I too, am anxiously awaiting the DLC and the next CV game to follow. So basically yes, in many ways it has surely rejuvinated my love for the series. It's a clear step away from the 572342340 Metroidvanias that are out there, and LoS seems to nail what LoI and CoD did wrong. (Even though I like those games too.)

You don't know him personally so how can you say if he's pleased with LoS or not? Have you read an interview that suggests so?

I can't say LoS has rejuvinated my love for CV since my love for CV has existed even before it was announced as a CV game. Even if we were playing a new metroidvania console or handheld right now, I'd still have hope for the series. It's not like Konami decided to drop making games & are focusing on pachislot versions now.. then I might not be so interested.

well it was my opinion. this is a game.. he aspired to make but cam eup short with. IMO. that is all. I didn;t mean to make it about IGA. anywho.. I d think this game gave the series a shot in the arm and  introduced it to a new audience.

I have to admit that this game is by far my favorite CV title since SotN or even CV4.  Bold words, I know, but Lords of Shadow had so many "castlevania" moments, as well as a very well written and powerful story, that I've practically fallen in love with it.

I never got the notion IGA had any bad feelings about LoS. IGA commented that he thinks it looks interesting.

IGA said he hasn't had the time to play LoS, which I pray is because he's hard at work making Dracula's Curse Chronicles for the 3DS. (Please?)

Hah, DLC.  Do you guys seriously think we will get good content with the DLC?  We will more than likely wait too long for too little content.  I can see it now.  We wait a few months and then it is there ready to be purchased and downloaded.  We play through it in a mere 2 hours and ask ourselves why they still have not got it with this whole "lets get rid of the castlevania feel to draw in new fans".  If it is going to be about the ending, well I bet the DLC won't lead to more understanding but more ambiguity.  I am sorry, but I am through having high hopes for this game, not to mention any DLC.

Thank you for your baseless doom-saying conjecture.

Anyways, I do agree that this title has breathed some new life into the series. It's going to be really cool to see how things take of from here.

rejeuvenated? yes. big time.

this game pays homage to the classics and successfully draws upon them for inspiration. The CV franchise is once again, on the right track. I grew so weary of the uninspired/re-hashed SoTN clones on the DS with their kiddie dialogue and the same sprites/enemies we've seen for over 10 years now, followed by poorly designed 3D attempts that showed the same lack of imagination when it came to level design. Mercurysteam is a creative powerhouse and the franchise will thrive under their development and Mr. Cox's direction. I truly believe this to be the case.

no game is perfect though. most will find something they don't agree with in this new outing, but certainly i think most can agree that it was finally the 3D success that has been long, LONG overdue.
