I loved the game, but some things that I think need some small fixes...

- QTE
- Music, while it is great, I think we need more variery.
- That thing about recharging magic, I think I should be like when healing life instead of keeping L3 and R3 until bars get filled.
- Yes, please, more unlockable stuff. I got used to "Boss Rush" modes as well since... Harmony of Dissonance? That would be a really entertaining feature here too.

as for story, it's fine except I didn't like how they blended Leon with Mathias to form Gabriel, and the whole Zobek betrayal was way too predictable.

lol, I was also like "If Leon and Mathias were one, that would be Gabriel".
Also, some more stuff about those "small" NPC characters that just pop-up and dissapear so soon :( (such as Claudia, Laura...), but I think if we get that, the game would be even longer than it is, but we can get more about them maybe in collectibles, like the scrolls, or maybe items that tell us more about them, like... Dunno... Maybe a ring, weapons or miscellaneous objects like that with background info.

"A smaller force defeating a much larger army, that is the beauty of strategy"

Besides the usual Skeletons and stuff, what CV enemies were in the game? All of the enemy designs they used were generic crap. Those vampires were nothings like we have seen before, and if they didn't say they were vampires I don't think any of us would ever have guessed...

The idea of bat-like, bestial vampires is nothing new to vampire lore.

I loved it, and I was literally the only person at the midnight launch for it :(
The only thing I didn't like about the game was the ending, it felt just a tad rushed. The story had built itself up so high throughout that epic adventure, than suddenly Zobek's all like "Mwha haha! Yes! It was all me! snarf" and then Satan randomly enters the scene lol. I felt they could have done without Satan, especially if he's apparently going to be the "Boss" in future titles. Other than those things, I absolutely loved the whole game, and persauded the gamestop manager to let me take the promo box off the wall lol. I also agree with those who wish the next installment will include a controllable camera, it really is a shame that you can't fully enjoy all the beautiful scenery.

Um, they try to suck your blood and get scorched by the daylight. They also look reminiscent of bats (hell, Brauner even transforms into group of them occasionally).

^ Agreed lol. I really don't know what more they could possibly do to convey the image of vampires. I mean, they're more animalistic this time around for sure, more bat than human. That I understand, but regardless, I don't see why it would be hard to realize what they are?

Eh, Vampires comes in all shapes, depending on which movie they're coming from and what 'type' of vampire they are.

I mean, the Whitewolf "Vampire: The Masquerade" RPG has at least a dozen 'types' of Vampires.  You can see that the more bat-like demon ones are Nosferatu or one of them other races or something (I'm not too familiar with the types).

Movie-wise, these look like "From Dusk 'til Dawn" style vampires.  You know... squishy yet strong as hell bat/rat creatures.

Olrox and Brauner look like a cross between those, and 'demons' from other movies.

Well, to be honest the first time I saw them I thought they were demons of some kind. I didn't realise what they were until Cox said they were vamps and I was like

ok

Take no offense, but I find it somewhat hard to believe that someone who's comfortable discussing of post-bellic russian cinema and Trockij's epuration is completely unfamiliar with Buffy or Underworld or Bram Stocker's Dracula or Nosferatu or Vampire: The Masquerade or Van Helsing or Ann Rice or a dozen other entertainment products  ;D .

As a side note, the image of the half-man, half-bat monster is strongly rooted in vampire myth; it's not an Hollywood byproduct. In fact, the first "vampire movies" ever shot flirted with the idea of grotesque, bald, fanged creatures with pointy ears:

Now, the winged demonlike creature is probably something slightly more modern, but I'd hardly call the imagery unfamiliar if you think at stuff like:

Now it could be legitimate to question how "classy" these interpretations of the vampire effectively are, compared to the tuxedo wearing Lugosi icon; however, such considerations are hardly worth of attention as criticism towards LoS as a Castlevania entry, because if we had to hold the series to such standards, it would crumble to dust.

In fact, if I were to take the criticism lifted here at LoS and apply it to, say, SotN, the conclusion would be a veritable Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I know, right?  It is a bit odd... I consider most of us here to be somewhat 'gurus' of Vampire Lore; quite educated in the ways of vampire mythos.  To not recognize the LoS vampires as... well... at least one type of 'Vampire' seems a bit farfetched, to be honest.
