As I expected, it happened with fable 1 and 2.

I really wanted a chance to have a whip in this game and be very buff.
Then fight a dark lord at the end.

I have yet to try this game.

well... what you expect from a game that calls itself "fable?"

I have Fable 2. I really wanted to LOVE it, but haven't really played it much. It has the most awful map I've ever seen in a modern western RPG with a huge world. It also just doesn't seem to suck me in. I heard around on the web that some people like the first Fable much more, I'm not sure what the mass opinion is. I even paid 70 bucks for the Limited Edition so I could have my Halo Spartan outfit. I bought it brand new and the code wasn't even in the box. So I got fucked. And saw a game of the year edition for half the price with all the download content. How was this game of the year anyway? That's sad to hear that this game is lame too. I love the art style and all, neat setting. I've owned Fable 2 for probably a year and a half, and played it about 8 hours, maybe 10. I played Mass Effect 2 for 24 hours in 3 days (I've had some free time...) I'll probably skip Fable 3 for sure. Unless I start to play part 2 again and somehow fall in love. Good think 360 has a few other great RPGs, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Mass Effect. Also the jobs you have to do are lame on Fable 2, like being a blacksmith. LAME. Hope they took those out at least.

They did not, and they took out the easy method for money that was in Fable 2. So if you hated them in 2, you're doubly fucked now.

I liked Fable 2 a lot. I don't understand why people hate it so much. It's like it's OMG THE WORST THING EVER. Yeah, you can't die, and yeah the map sucked. And the game is way too short. But it was a fun little sandboxish RPG with lots of stuff to do and the environemts were really cool and well designed. The ending was disappointing though, but I actually did most of the achievements in this game, which is a rare thing this generation of consoles for me...

I am looking forward to playing Fable III cause I go in expecting more of the same. I also picked up the first Fable so I'm gonna play through that in the coming week..

Hm, I didn't know it was out yet..  :o
If how you describe it is true, I might have to reconsider getting it, considering I liked the first two. The second was -meh-, though I heard the third was supposed to be a big improvement.. I'll have to look into it

It's not out yet... it's out tomorrow.

But my opinion is not what everyone thinks though. Some people think it's like Fable 2, and some people really like it.

My brother's really looking forward to Fabal 3. He liked Fabal 2, but to him it was a dissapointment. Fabal 2 was a rush job at best. All the things the director wanted to put in Fabal 2 were never done due to buget constraints and lack of time before the release date. The ball was essentually dropped on what could've been a phnominal game. Fabal 3 is all that Fabal 2 should've been from the get-go. I played Fabal 1, but never really got into it. Maybe it had way too much stuff going on that I'd lose focus on the main quest. That's what I like about older RPGs. The side-quests are minimal if non-existant. It is unfortunate that most of our favoret past series' are being bogged down with side-quest after side-quest rather then maintaining the flow of the main quest story. FF and Zelda to name but a few. But that's just my opinion.

Well, the game is getting some pretty good reviews as we speak.

Anyway, I have to be honest; One reason I enjoyed Fable II was because I got it for free. I dunno how I would've reacted if I had to pay for it, lol. It was soooo short. I think I only "died" once (which didn't even matter). But there was a lot of stuff to do even after the game had ended, at least for me. Now, the reviews I've seen for Fable III all mention that it's super easy, which I guess mean it's on par with Fable II. There seem to be a fair share of stuff to do when the "main quest" is over though, and some reviews actually say that the REAL fun begins when you become the ruler of Albion. Hmmm... I'm not buying the game straight away, but I might put it on my x-mas wish list...  ;D

I've only really just become ruler of Albion. And for the most part it has been pretty boring. Nearing the becoming ruler part though, it felt better... not great or maybe even good, but it was more bearable... maybe it's because I was getting used to the boredom.. I don't know.

After I beat it, I'll be able to give a better feel for the game.

Forgot... I beat it a while ago.

The decision part.. like 10 seconds worth of gameplay was kind of cool. But I still can't really like the game. I went back to Fable 2 to play.... and man does it feel soooooooooo much better.

Did someone say Fable 3?

Quote
Fable III's plot twist is stupid and makes no sense

So it turns out

Quote
Theresa never wanted you to overthrow Logan because he's a ruthless tyrant.  She wanted you to overthrow him so you can be a ruthless tyrant, just with super powers capable of fighting the most undefined, generic villain in RPG history

And when the main character

Quote
questions her on the issue by going, "Umm, why didn't you just tell me about this from the start?", her response is "Well, the people did need a rebellion so they could be saved, and I never technically lied to you."

Oh fuck you bitch.

Quote
The entire point of the first part of the game is Theresa showing you the results of Logan's tyranny and saying "Yes, this is the reason there needs to be a rebellion; not because some vaguely Lovecraftian monster is about to invade the world."  She then manipulates you to make a bunch promises that she knows ahead of time you'll never realistically be able to keep because you need to use all of the kingdom's money to build an army.  It makes no sense.

And honestly

Quote
What the hell was the Fable II main character thinking when they decided not to warn their son/daughter about this kind of thing?  Wouldn't "Hey, watch out for this creepy fortune-telling lady.  She'll **** with you" be one of the first pieces of vital information you'd want to leave behind for your kid?

Also, on a side note,

Quote
I don't even buy the idea of Logan actually being a generally nice guy forced to make harsh decisions, and I'm half-convinced it was something Lionhead threw in at the last minute.  Yeah, I get how the child labor thing and ignoring the financial needs of cities outside of Bowerstone tie in with him secretly funding an army to fight the Darkness, but then there's things that he does that just make no sense.  Like at the beginning of the game, when he forces the main character choose either to sentence their girlfriend/boyfriend or a couple of villagers to execution for no reason.  It serves no purpose whatsoever in his real motives, and he just acts evil for the sake of being evil.

This is like that time I watched My HiME.
