Castlevania Action Figures

This is a topic to discuss NECA's action figures.

There were appearantly 4 figures released: Simon Belmont, Alucard, Dracula, and Succubus. I'm supposed to be getting the succubus for X-mas. From what I've seen in reviews they messed her up a little and she doesn't look like she's shown in promotional pictures. Her scultping is really nice, but her paint is a little messed up. Her eyes are a little crooked and her arms have black spots on the fishnet stockings where her skin should be showing. Also they repainted her body pale which I'm fine with because in all the succubus artworks in Castlevania she is shown to be very pale, but they forgot to paint her hands the same color so she has a pale body with redish hands. Here's a comparison of the promotional art and actual figure:

I'm still going to get the figure, even with her flaws she still looks awesome and it will be cool to have a figurine of my favorite villain in the series.

It really depends on the individual figure. Some are painted really well others aren't as much. I have two sets of the figures, one open, one sealed. The ones that are opened are of the first set released and those are all painted really well, the sealed set I have are the second wave released, where the colors are kind of messed up. Alucards face makes it look like he's wearing bad makeup, the succubus of the second release is more tan than pale and has more of the problems that you stated.
So it really depends on the figure, but even with the paint messed up a bit, they usually aren't too bad from what I've seen, and they are all still great figures.

Damn NECA for not making more
What a horrible night to have a curse!

Why is the succubus wielding the Belmont's throwing axe?? She doesn't need a weapon.

Obviously because she would look really dull without some sort of weapon to hold like the other figures. I wish she had more items then just an axe and fleaman. I think in the concept art she was supposed to come with an axe, fleaman and a bag of gold. I don't know why they decided to ditch the gold, I think that would have been a perfect item for her to have (prostitute lol).

I also wish NECA would make more characters, like maybe Maria and she could come with a dove in her hand and a flower (she's always drawn holding a flower). Soma would be pretty cool as well, and maybe Carmilla too. Carmilla could even come with her mask.

Carmilla would be awesome. But she should also come with her blood-covered body resting inside of her stone casket since that's how she is in the novel (And in VHD: Bloodlust)

The biggest difference between the two releases is the color of the Succubus.  The original is a better, but it's difficult to find since there weren't as many released the first time.

There's also technically six figures.  The four you mentioned and variant clear Simon and Dracula with open mouth.

In reply to X

They were trying to fit all the Belmont weapons into the line, but it would cost too much to give them all to Simon.  So they split them up amongst the other figures.  Succubus comes with the axe.  Dracula comes with the watch.  Alucard comes with the wall meat, cross, and holy water.  Simon comes with a candle, boomerang cross, knife, jar, sword, morningstar, and vampire killer.

I love NECA and some of their toys, like the Resident Evil and Terminator ones. But these just looked kinda bad when I saw them on the original release.

Also - never trust the promo pictures, they show paint jobs that took time and work, not factory production line jobs.

I'm not sure why, but I like the succubus with the axe. It just seems to fit her, I guess because axes bring to mind hooded executioners in dark dungeons with torture devices. The succubus just kind of fits that picture.

Also I heard her top was supposed to be removable, but they glued it on at the last second. That would have been cool to have a removable top so she would look like she did in Ayami Kojima's art drawing of her, but I guess it was censored due to fear of backlash from angry parents who'd buy these toys for their kids and see their kids play with an a figure with realictic boobs.

IDK a dagger with a skull on the handle or something cool like that wood have been more fitting IMO.

Ooooh that's dirty.
Also, I do believe the bustier top on the Succubus figure is removable.
