I enjoyed the shimmying, and using the whip to rappel down cliffs. Slow certainly, but there was a sense of euphoria doing that in some of those beautiful environments. A Belmont overcoming the landscape in new ways. At Dorin's monastery, going up the tower and smashing through the window—that was a magnificent experience. We may never see its' likes again.
There was probably too much of it though. I would have liked more platforming, but it was awkward at times, perhaps due to the framerate and input detection/response. On the Music Box level sometimes Gabriel seemed to jump far enough to the next platform, sometimes he seemed to just do a small jump. It was hit and miss. On the 2D scrolling/camera moments, I had a problem with the dash function kicking in when trying to edge up to the electric fields. It needs to be sharpened up a bit.
The Necromancer's Abyss level was excellent though I thought, combining a bit of everything. Shame it was the last level.
