I still think the setting itself was interesting. I found it rather more interesting than the WWll Castlevania that was PoR. (I mean, it says it takes place in "europe" but never actually specifies) This idea actually takes place in GERMANY, of all places for there to be a vania, WWll Germany.

This is a good question. If a Belmont were to become a member of the German police in 1943. He would have to swear allegiance to the Furor. Moreover, since it's in 1943, all police officers were of the Geheime Staatspolizei or Gestapo. This Belmont would have to be a full-fledged Nazi. But don't get me wrong here. Just because someone serves in such an army, doesn't automaticly make him evil as I have read stories that state such people during the war.

It would've been cool if PoR incorporated something like the "vampires did WWI" theme that was the catalyst of Bloodlines. It had a brilliant premise but it was underdeveloped. The WWII setting seemed mostly to facilitate the chaos that caused the castle to rise when it did.

As someone who has been studying dream interpretation, dream recall, and lucid dreaming (being aware that you're dreaming, and actively controlling it), I'd love to dream up my own CV, and roam freely in its world. I have never done this, but when I do you'll be the first to know!

PoR was one huge moldy ball of immense unused potential.

Hitler wants to raise Dracula, or find a way to use his powers for himself? Fight off the Nazi undead army? Killing the Jews to harvest souls for Dracula? The possibilities go on and on. The Nazis were steeped in spirituality and alternative research.

The amount of wasted potential is astounding. PoR is the single biggest failure to utilizing any of the awesome concepts that WWII era Europe offers opting for a really generic set of disconnected concepts.

I agree, I also had similar ideas of how Portrait could've been. Hitler like Brauner was also an artist so the whole painting motif would've worked fine. It's a shame the closest we got to Nazi soldiers was when Medusa smashes them to pieces during her entrance.

Well, i think all your recomendations for PoR plot can not be approved just for one simple reason: rating. Castlevania isn't Wolfenstain, castlevania is for kids, guys. Sad but true.

I don't believe in having a nazi concept within the game, it would probably also be too much associated with the story of the hellsing anime series(good series though), I think..

Actually, its more because IGA after Aria, decided to try and appeal to the tweens whom the Nintendo handhelds are more geared for. (hence the anime style)

unfortunately, as long as IGA continues to market the handheld games to the main audience of the nintendo handhelds to maximize sales, then aint gonna happen.

But ill be fair, PoR's anime style was actually very pleasing. Much better than the DoS one.

Almost every IGAVania story has a breat premise but laughable poorly execution. Believe me, some of our ideas are pretty cool, if some good writer saw them and executed the saga would be very intriguing storywise
