Darksiders

Well I just had a pleasant surprise with Darksiders. I saw the game at a few stores for 20 bucks and decided to pick it up. Little did I know it would be one of those games I'd play through right away. I really liked it. The artwork style is just great, I guess the artist Joe Madureira does comics. It was also quite nice to see such a colorful game too. I guess the game borrows from 3D Zelda games and God of War so they say, And that's fine with me obviously. I'm sure we remember the big game websites giving Lords of Shadow lower scores than it should of gotten for similar reasons... As for the game itself, you are War. One of the Four Horsemen. Sort of balance keepers between heaven and hell. There's plenty of item/upgrades and new things you'll receive to help you out on your way. You also get a pretty bad ass horse called Ruin. I'd ride this beast over Epona any time. There's some neat tools for platforming as well. Swinging round with your chain from point to point, climbing wall/ceiling, and even using portals. Blood will always be a plus for me with these sort of games. Darksiders has blood and some nice fatalities for you're enemies once you beat them down. I would love to see what happens next in the story too, so hopefully Darksiders 2 will be awesome. I believe they are planning one for 2012. If you are a fan of the games this one has been compared to, I'm sure you'll be a fan here also. Since God of War is a PS exlusive, and Zelda has NO HD game, it was great to get this. Even better that it is a different game with a cool style of it's own. I'm pretty sure IGN or Gamespot said this game had a lot of screen tearing. I didn't see once instance of it so that was a plus. I recommend checking it out if you got a spare 20 bucks! I'm sure glad I did. As for anyone here that has already tried it, what do you think?

I liked it quite a bit. It was derivative, sure, but it was pretty fun. As a fan of both Zelda and God of War, I was pretty pleased with the gameplay. The premise of the game was pretty cool, too. And the ending was excellent.

There was one thing that kind of made me laugh, though: unlocking doors. The whole stab-the-eye-and-watch-blood-violently-gush-out thing was pretty over-the-top and pointless.

Can't wait for the sequel. I'm pretty curious about the other playable characters they're promising.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

I never played Ocarina of Time and I don't want any sass! I never had the N64. I know it's all about the game play but really I have a hard time going back to non HD 3D games, especiallly N64. N64 Games look so FUZZY. I always thought the PS1 was way better and still do. So never got the N64. So I may never play Ocarina. I have Twilight Princess and Wind Waker for Gamecube. Hopefully those 2 will keep me covered...? Personally I respect the Zelda franchise and realize a lot of people love it, it however doesn't really get me pumped up. So maybe Darksiders was more my flavor. After all it's 'Darker'.

Inappropriate, off topic comment:

"Darksiders" looks too much like "Dickriders."

Someone should make that into a vidya game.

====

N64 games don't look too fuzzy on S-Video; even better if you have the ability to use SCART.

If you have a Wii, you can download Ocarina of Time (and the other available N64 games) at 480p, instead of the 240i or whatever the N64 naturally outputs (without the aid of an Expansion Pak for the select few games that use it for higher res). They look sharp as can be at that res. Also, there's the Ocarina of Time: Master Quest GameCube disc which emulates both versions of the game at 480p as well; same goes for the Zelda Collector's Edition GameCube promo disc (which also has Majora's Mask, but I hear the emulation for the game is kind of bad on the disc; the game plays fine on the Virtual Console, though). If you ever wanna play OOT (and you really should), I suggest going one of those routes. You won't get Ganon(dorf)'s red blood, nor the creepy Muslim chanting in the Fire Temple (nor the Islamic-esque crescent moon symbol), but the game will look sharp.

I can't wait to earn the achievements for that! HA. I wonder what they'd be?

As far as Ocarina... I do have a Wii. One of the reasons I bought it was they finally added Ogre Battle 64 to virtual console. Plus Gamecube compatibility. I have heavily considered buying the Zelda Collectors Edition as a means to get both Ocarina and Majora's Mask. I've read several places that the emulation is bit bad too though. However that it really isn't enough to hamper my experience too badly. I'm pretty sure Zelda Collectors Edition does Progressive Scan too. So I'll get my 480p. I though about downloading them on V console, but if I can have them on a disk as I prefer I think I'll probably go with Collectors Edition. Anyway... DICKRIDERS! Ride 100 dicks, that's gotta be worth at least 25 achievement points! Oh Abnormal Freak did you see my post in your Donkey Kong Country OST topic?
