I'm finally able to view this image!

I really, really love the eyes... looking at them reminded me immediately of Ayami's art. I think you really captured the essence there. My guess is it's a woman, but I'm not sure who exactly you're drawing...care to explain further? I'm also looking forward to more of your art!
Hehe thanks :). My main concern was to draw the eyes in the way Ayami made them, and it wasn't easy. Sorry to diappoint you, but it's a guy. When i first saw her drawing i thought it  was a girl too. Because his face is so gentle. You can see the original drawing here, the one Ayami did:

It's for a novel called Majin by Kikuchi Hideyuki, the author behind Vampire Hunter D. She illustrated a lot of his novels.
I made this drawing because i think it's interesting to learn how to paint by copying other works. It's not very creative, but it's still challenging because you have to figure out how to obtain some effects. And as you can see, i still have a lot to learn. I'm still planning to make other drawings inspired of her work( copy her work in other words). Not only because i'm learning how to paint, but also because i'm a huge fan of her work. She's my favorite artist.

I really like it BECAUSE the androgyny. I don't understand why some people - even at this day and age - are so obsessed with people looking stereotypically male or female. Besides, this is inspired by Ayami so it makes sense you couldn't really tell if it was a man or woman. Which gives it more depth, IMO. Anyway, good work!

Ha, jokes on you.

Everyone is obsessed with people looking androgynous in Asia right now.

I am fine with androgynous characters, but I don't like it if there are ONLY androgynous characters.

Over the years to my mind, 'androgynous' has come to mean 'overtly gay'.

I don't doubt the skill of the artist, and I don't give them an F in my gradebook or anything, its just in my experience most of the series that have several/most/all androgynous characters are targeted towards an overtly gay audience.

I'd have to disagree with that. Most fans of androgynous characters are actually females, not gays.

In fairness androgynous characters are fine. But they just seem out of place in the CV universe in terms of location and the time they take place in (Medieval Romania). Having such people in a CV game every now and then is fine. But if it's one game after another, then it's no-long CV. Instead it becomes shoujo which I believe doesn't quite fit the type of genre that CV was naturally depicted as. So, an androgynous character or two is fine in between a few games and even better if they are women.

Those are my sentiments too. I don't wish for CV to be filled with androgynous characters, especially when it comes to the Belmonts. Alucard is fine because of his otherworldly origins, but that formula shouldn't be used repeatedly in the series.

Also, there is a difference between being androgynous and being effeminate. The latter type is what I can't stand (Aeon being one such example).

I don't find Belmonts androgynous, well except Juste who looks too much like Alucard and maybe Leon . I find Richter and Trevor's artwork quite masculine. It's true they don't have strong jaws, but their eyebrows are more masculine then let's say Alucard's eyebrows. I know it sounds silly but it's those little details that makes the difference for me between a really androgynous character(Alucard) and  masculine characters(Trevor Richter Julius etc).Besides it's part of Ayami's style. All her work features androgynous characters.
On the other  hand  I really  liked OOE's artist, and it's nice once in a while to get something different and that doesn't look androgynous . And the art is good too.It fits the gothic atmosphere. So I'd like to see him work on CV again.
I'll always like Ayami's artwork, but her art becomes repetitive  with each CV. Having another artist do the artwork won't hurt the series. As long as his art is good and fits the mood in CV.

I'll agree about Julius. He was far more masculine then the others. Ayami should stick with that path a little more when it comes to dudes  in CV.

Yes I was referring to Juste. Hmm...your point about eyebrows is really interesting. Now I'm going to take a good look again at how Ayami drew the eyebrows of her characters :)
