Resident Evil Revival Selection

Hey looks like we will be getting an HD release of Resident Evil 4 and RE Code Veronica for XBox 360 and PS3. These won't be remakes, but rather just HD redone, in 720p I think. The screen shot's I've seen look great. I guess sort of like the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus and God of War I&II Collection for PS3. I guess news about this just came out. The one thing that makes me mad is that here in the US they will be download titles on both 360 and PS3. I would way way way rather get them in a nice package. Will the Japanese get it in an actual package? Either way, they will be nice to see, I think they will come out in the fall.

It could be really cool if they include RE Remake and RE ZERO  from the gamecube, i prefer these games instead of RE4.

I can't imagine re-releasing REmake and RE0 in HD because they'd have to re-render everything. I doubt those backgrounds were done in very high res; they even look murky on the progressive scan Wii releases with component video.

RE4 in HD would be marvelous. They better get it right and make it the ultimate version of the game this time. :p I was pissed when I got my HDTV that I learned the GameCube version isn't anamorphic widescreen. Then I was pissed again to pick up the Wii copy and discover that, despite automatically filling the TV, it's not true widescreen—it's just the GameCube image zoomed in with all the same amount of pixels, and zooming in on the GameCube version looks exactly the same, so the resolution's probably more like 300-something by 640 and I think the video's interlaced to boot. THEN I was even MORE pissed to learn that the PS2 version, despite its lack of certain graphical effects, is true 480p 16:9 widescreen and looks much better for HDTVs. :p Fuuuuuuck!

So, a 720p 16:9 upgrade would be fantastic, and it had better feature everything that's in the previous versions.

REmake and REO looks fantastic in Dolphin at 1960x1080 with AA, but I don't know if they actually can pull off that in consoles

No idea why Capcom simply refuses to do a remake of RE2.  Fans would love that.

Eh for all I care RE4 can go screw itself, I own 2 copies of the game already and I beat both the Gamecube and the Wii versions multiple times so really I don't care much about that. HOWEVER, Code Veronica....now there's a game that I have yet to play. I have seen my friend play it and a few let's plays of it but never actually got to try it myself due to the fact that I never owned a dreamcast sadly :(. That game is how most modern RE games should be as it had a non-fixed camera and from what i saw, very varied gameplay. I would buy that in a heartbeat.

I bought Code: Veronica along with RE4 and the two RE Files 1 and 2 for the PS2. It was a box set.

I just played Code Veronica through on Dreamcast last month I think I've played through about 5 times. Can't wait to see it in HD on my plasma. I played Resident Evil 4 for PS2 in 480p widescreen on my plasma and it still looked pretty blurry, I prefer to play it on a CRT. I can't wait to see it in HD. Yeah definitely sounds pretty confirmed we will only get them as download. This really pisses me off. I'll still buy em, but if I'm spending my money, come on. It's Resident Evil, and it will sell. Maybe by some slim chance Capcom will change it's mind and give us the nice treatment like they are giving the Japanese.

It's just kind of lame because:

(A) I have really slow, crappy Internet, so it could take me a long time to download this assuming it will be a few gigs.

(B) My PS3 doesn't have all the space in the world. And considering so many games require partial downloads before playing, I'll probably end up not having any more room before long.

(C) Physical media kicks ass. All-digital advocates are weirdos.

BOOOOOO at Code Veronica. Steve singlehandedly ruined that game for me. I'd much rather have RE2 with the added auto-aim and 180 degree turn. It's really a huge shame that no other RE has made use of the A/B Scenario gimmick like that game did; it made the game so replayable.

RE4, I've played to hell and back, but I might give it a shot again.

I got the Wii versions of these two and have finally decided to play through them...
I just beat RE remake with Jill and Chris. Loved it. I highly doubt they will Remake the Remake anytime soon. RE 0 has to be the worse RE ever though! What the hell were they thinking with this one? Too bad as I like the fact that it's RE, like the giant bugs, love the graphics, and how you get to be two characters. But the new game play elements just suck. No item box and the pain of switching items just makes the game way less fun. Same with the fact that if you send the wrong character in with the wrong item your hosed and have to reset the game... Very fun. I'm at least half way done though, sad I doubt I'll play this one again. Glad they evolved a lot of this stuff in RE5 like being able to send the item to your partner if your inventory is full. And dang if you don't get an item box at least give me 8 item slots per character!

I think RE Zero could potentially be awesome if they remade it for the 3DS with the ability to co-op online (and locally with another 3DS and game copy) with one player as Rebecca and another as Billy.

This way, the static camera angles could remain as each person has their own screen/system to play on, and you could get things done more quickly as one character isn't just twiddling his thumbs in some other room. Perhaps some parts would need revision/editing, like what Rebecca does when she's separated from Billy or vice versa would need to be developed, but I think this idea has great potential.

Also Capcom, along these lines, you could totally make free monies with Outbreak File 1 and 2 bundled together on the 3DS, provided you enabled local AND online play with other guys in the room (probably not single card play, as that's a lot of stuff to download).

Oh man... why did I think of this? I'm just going to be disappointed when they aren't made.

Looking forward to Code Veronica. Kinda done with RE as a series though, it used to be my favorite but after 4, 5 and this stupid looking shooter coming up I am no longer a fan of the series. I am actually afraid now that they will remake the older games.
Front mission, Resi, Vandal Hearts, Parasite eve....developers are trying to make me suicide I think.
-----------------------------------------------
Nowadays you are either a graphics whore or a fanboy. BR is Shank not CV. It is ridiculous to think that it is better than CV. If it was CV then it would be what RE4 is to Resi, a series killer. Dumb it down and make it look pretty. Enough idiots will buy it.
