HELLO WORLD

oook here's the official list of games in the series (am i missing any (besides the goof/kid dracula type games)?)

strike means i've played and beat em

i can't find a playstation 1 emulator that works right with win7 to play Akumajou Dracula/chronicles (havent put a ton of effort into it yet)

mainly i'm trying to play the Rondo of Blood game now.. but.. as for the turbografx16 version, i can only find a CD .img/.bin file as if i actually have a turbografx16 system  ::). then i found a stand alone version  :).. 1.1 - which works great, except there's NO SAVE STATE. so, i found a v1.2 which has a save state function, but it won't launch on my win7 pc. it just sits there "not responding" - I WANNA PLAY THIS GAME!! any advice?

i wanted to play the originals but it sounds like it's a good remake  ;D

btw, i really liked haunted castle... kinda quirky but that was almost my favorite so far. gotta love the first one best though... the 3rd is great, and i kinda like 2 despite the weirdness. 4 is slick too......... etc etc

The only ones I haven't beaten yet on there are Vampire Killer, the Arcade (obviously), and Harmony of Despair, but that's cause its not on PS3. Oh and Encore of the Night, but I should cause I have it for my Ipad. I did actually beat Order of Shadows, I guess it was fun for what it is
What a horrible night to have a curse!

You said them ALL so... you forgot CV1 on the Commodore 64 and on the Amiga. They are different enough versions to warrant a playthrough.

Isn't the Commodore 64 a finicky computer and thus only works when it want's to?

It's less finicky than an NES. :)

True. but if you have the Game Genie cart then the finickiness not really a problem anymore.

i'm losing interest in this............... Symphony of the Night is just annoying me. too many forks in the road,,, it's never really clear what you're supposed to do or where to go. and that 1999 castlevania SNES game bugged me too..... i guess i like the classics best

Yeah, both of those require pretty different mindsets when playing compared to the classic titles. There may be lots of forks in SoTN, but I actually like that about it. Most of the time you can just tackle the areas in different order rather than get stuck at a dead end.

well
iirc

The only things that really bugged me about SOTN's progression design were occasional puzzles with brand-new, previously unheard-of, unhinted-at mechanics that would never be used again.  It doesn't have them that often, but a few little things like getting into Olrox's chamber or finding the Beryl Circlet/Jewel Sword or that deal with hitting all the clock tower gears JUST ENOUGH (although that was kinda foreshadowed in Rondo) that can be irritating unless you cheat and look up a guide.

I'm all for obscure secrets, because they add so much to a game like Symphony, encouraging active exploration of its world and mechanics. It's a great feeling to have even after years of thorough experience that you don't know and haven't solved all the mysteries at hand. Castlevania needs more of this; layers beyond layers. Symphony doesn't even trip with the execution since most of the really tightly-guarded stuff is relegated to optional side paths and nooks, only serving to enrich, not frustrate. I'm guessing the manner in which you enter Olrox's Quarters is the toughest thing to discover in the course of the main path, though you quite literally stumble on the solution eventually. It's kind of charming in a way.
