They all have potential.  The fact is that we don't get to see it for a number of reasons.

  • They're minor characters
  • There were limitations at the time the game was made
  • Lack creativity
I actually think that the supporting characters should have their own games.  For example, a game staring Sypha before the events of CV3.  If done right, it could give fans more insight into the characters and bring more money into the franchise.

Some forum member here was working on an awesome sounding Dracula X spinoff starring adult Maria. I'm not sure it's still being made, but it was going to be on the PSX, and the soundtrack he had someone working on was fantastic... sort of like the Bayonetta soundtrack in that it had a distinctly "female" sound, but still with the baroque classical elements that make Castlevania's music.

As much as I agree with Sonia, I have to go with Shanoa. She's got one of my favorite character backgrounds/plots in CV.

Charlotte is eye candy. Nothing else.

I have to mostly agree with this comment. Charlotte only becomes useful when it is intended for her to be so. Like freeing the sisters of their curse or allowing Jonathan to reach higher places (before you get your double-jump ability) that's about it. Otherwise she's very much useless except to just show off her legs in Flame's eyes  :)
