Sure Iga works for Konami, but when you have a low budget with little time, you'll get whatever you can to make the job done, like DoS, Konami and Nintendo, they were pressing him to make a Castlevania that it will utilize the DS Capabilities almost with the lunch of the console, so he came with what he came. I agree that PoR was nothing like what we have been promised and expecting to get.

Let's put it this way. If they gave free reign to IGa again. What do you think he would do? He would blow whatever budget they give him, and he would never be able to deliver on the same scale as LoS. So his budget would be lowered again, and his bad practices would resurface. One of the many problems was not just asset reuse, that was the least of anyone's worries- The biggest problems were gimmick driven gameplay. He always designs the gameplay gimmick first, and THEN he builds the game around that and tries to force the story to fit it. It works alright when he makes original stories, but once he starts making 'sequels' to other games in the timeline, he finds a way to screw it up bad.

You are wrong, because the only time he had let's say a decent budget and time, was when he was making SotN and even back there he was time pressured. Never again he had a chance like that, so you can't judge him, when what he was doing was what he could do, with what he was having, so he could make it in time. On the contrary, MS, has all the time and budget in the world to do, like it pleases, something that never happen with Iga and it will never happen.

It was not just a "trend" it was a breakthrough in technology, that actually allowed a third dimension, WITH good quality. Look at some older 3D systems, they could not hold a candle to what the N64 and PS1 (and even the Dreamcast) All because they started 2D and went 3D when it went big, means nothing. The series evolved and grew. it's natural.

If you have read any interview back then, when Castlevania 64 was coming out, you would have know that the series they were trying to get to 3D, like many other games, not to evolve, but to strike the competition, so if some other titles didn't selling well, when they went from to 2D to 3D, i doubt that Konami would have been so eager to bring the series to 3D back then.

They can. Just don't let IGA near them, or keep him on a very short leash. At least make sure to keep his very bad development habits in check.

I have never said that Iga should get to make if there is going to be a new 2D Castlevania game, only that they should have never sacrificed the 2D, because casual players like shiny 3D graphics, i'm playing games from the 80's, along with many other friends of mine and believe me, now days, we prefer to play older games than the new repetitive ones, that they can't stand out from the mass. I've got RE6 and after i've finished Leon's campaign, i have never touch it again, because the other campaigns, they didn't resemple at anything what RE series are, they are like just  playing third person shooters.

We are talking about a "storyline" here. nothing else. if the classic continuity must be sacrificed for the series to be reborn again and refreshed for the modern day, then so be it. As it is there is just too much baggage. the only people who bought the games IGA released were the fans, and his attempts to bring in new ones failed. It's a similar problem with Mega Man. There are too many series and too many protagonists to be able to successfully "relaunch" it.

Again i have never spoken about Iga's timeline, but in general, about all the series, because if you disregard the past, you'll also disregard the 2D history the series have.

And LoS is one of those experiments, and it has done tremendously well, and while Cox and MS will make no more CV games after LoS2, I do hope that the bar of quality that LoS has set, is not lowered back down to the low standards we previously had.

So did SotN, but i don't remember after that, giving him a big budget and as much time he was needed to come with something interesting, unlike LoS. I don't see Konami rushing MS for a specific date of release, they can have released, whoever they want. Even MoF got delayed, so they can polished it, before release, something that never happened with Iga. Give him or someone else the same terms and believe me, he whoever is, would make something good in 2D. The only time Iga got a little more time, was with OoE and while not 100% perfect, it was on the right path on many things.

I don't know, maybe i'm getting old, but believe me, if a game doesn't appeal me with it's game play, no matter what story, graphics has or even sold 1.000.000.000 copies world wide, i will not get it.
