Streets Of Rage Remake.... also, hi there!

Hey, first time poster, long time reader here. Thought that people on here may possibly be interested, if they don't know, that the final version (v5) of the Streets Of Rage Remake is out. And that everyone should pick it up, of course  :) . It's a large enough file (219+ Mbs) but well worth it. I'm sure a lot of people will have heard about the project, but for those of you who don't, it's a labour of love of over 8 years, has excellent remixes of the original tracks, 109 stages to plow through, 19 characters to choose from (if you finish the game and open up the Shop), plus a ton of extras which I won't go into here. Here's the link... Streets Of Rage Remake

Have Fun! ;)

-edit- .. just wondering, how do you do proper linkage on this board? Or is it not allowed? If someone could explain this to me, I'd be very grateful.

-another edit- Thank you v. much, Jorge.

Normally we're not all that fond of soliciting, but this IS the Gaming Section, and there are many people who would be interested in some Streets of Rage action.  In order to do links to other sources, there's the url and /url bbc tags (you use the square brackets to 'code' the url and /url to close, and if you want to name your link you use {url=insertyourlinkurlhere.here}Insert URL Name you wanna use here{/url} (again, with square brackets, not curly brackets like in this example).

If you're linking to Youtube or other embedding sites, you just post the URL and the forum will auto-embed.

Thank you, kind sir, for the linkage info. Sorry if my first post came out as semi-advertising, but having seen this game I actually thought of this website and felt people should know. Not sure how long this game will be around actually.... how have Sega managed to let this get past them after 8 years? Would have thought they'd be down on the programmers like a ton of bricks....

I read about this on Joystiq last night...sounds awesome. I can't believe they crammed all of that into this. I must play this, since the series has always been fun, and SoR2 is one of the greatest beat-em-ups ever made.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

I've recently discovered SoR and I must say it's a damn fine game. SoR 1 was good but I felt there were some things that needed to be worked out. SoR 2 IMO is the best of all three games. It took what was good about the first game and made it better. It also droped a lot of the problems that were present in the first game. SoR 3 is my least favorite I think. The character sprites are better then the second game's but what make it inferior to it's predecessors is the music. The tunes were just not inspiring or interesting as they were in the first two games. they were almost soulless and cobbled together. They also lacked all the funkiness and classic 80's hip-hop which the other games possessed. The only tune that I liked was the underground boss battle theme where you fought off the three ninjas.

SHOCKINGLY AMAZING!  ;D  The whole team deserves lots of respect and praise!

Streets of Rage Remake Game Sample 1/2 - PC/Indie

There are tons of fantastic things to say about it, but one early detail I enjoyed (besides the best retro style opening in the history of videogames) is the first boss fight in the rain, the added thunder and lightning flashes and everything is just like indescribable! The added story cutscenes and everything makes things even more terrific!!!!!!  Of course the music is outstanding too, but this is extremely beyond what most developers out have been doing, and so much can be enjoyed and learned from this.  ^.^

Been having a fair whack off this now since I d/led it... and, by Beelzebub's rotting thighs, it's hard. Have only managed on Normal with CPU assist to get to about level 3. Brilliant game and all, but what a ball-buster. Still though, that's what it's about... stepping up to the challenge!

I TECHNICALLY beat the game. I got to stage 8 in path 1 but died when the building blew up since I couldn't find the card key in time...that ending made me feel sad, probably cuz I played for a whole hour and a half just to get the bad ending....was a very fun hour and a half though. I love playing as Zan, I see him as a mix of Blanka and Robocop kinda.

This game is tough and I'm disappointed that you have to unlock the engine in order to make your own game. I'd rather you have the option right from the get-go. I've tried using the Beats of Rage engine to make one, but I can't seem to access that option either and it's really frustrating when you've got a lot of ideas and can't bring them out to share with anybody.

So some asshole lawyer at Sega decided to make Bombergames take SoRR down. Apparently Sega is butthurt that non-professionals make far better games than they can. I mean, what the hell? It's not like Sega has touched the property since SoR3, which was made, what, 18 years ago?

I thought this would happen...  Fucking corporate bullshit. Best thing to do now is upload it to rapidshare or something so it won't disappear.

-edit- Seems it's still available at mediafire in two parts. For those of you who still want to pick this up... I'd say do it now before Sega comes whining to mediafire.

thanks for the links!  Is the rapidshare link the 2 parts together?    Yes that is very evil what Sega and/or their lawyers are doing, it's good some generous people out there already got the full version to share with the rest of the world!    ;D

Yes there's no respect for Sega anymore after their reaction towards this amazing project the team worked so long and hard on to share with fans and newcomers to the series.   Instead of getting in the way, they should have their development teams study and learn from it.
