I've been recoloring a picture (artwork) and everything is going well but there are some mysterious white spots that I can't recolor. You can't really see them clearly until you zoom in but if you take a good look at the image you can see them and I don't want that. Does anybody know about this problem and if so could you help me?

How do you exactly do recoloring?
White spots can be group of pixels with maximum lightness and minimum saturation in terms of hsv, for example. If you try to use color shifting it won't affect it, of course.

I'm not sure if I can explain it well but I put a mask over the image, then I select the color that I want and use the pen tool to recolor it.

Well, if you're working in RGB or CMYK colorspace...
check pen settings: blending mode, opacity, etc. If they're all ok, problem lies in mask. How do you put it?

The blending mode is "normal" and the opacity is 100%. What do you mean with how I put the mask?

I use Corel photopaint so I know nothing of this problem. I remember using photoshop once, but that was a while ago and this issue you speak of is a new one to me.

Yeah I use Paint Shop Pro and the GIMP most of the time.

But I'm not unfamiliar with Photoshop.  Maybe I can help?
You're seeing 'white spots'?  Are they pixel-sized?  Like, 1x1?  Or are they globules of white?
If they're tiny pixels then there might be an issues with the fillpaint tool you used.  Perhaps its opacity is weird or its not doing a full color (but rather an 'airbrush' style fill, so it's left with tiny white spots in random locations depending on how the pressure sensitivity of it was).

Either that or it's a multi-layered picture (PNG maybe?) and the spots are in the mask or in the alpha channel?

Lol, maybe it would help if I showed you the image. I'll send it in a PM though since it's kind off a secret.  :-X

It sounds like you've got some layering or brush issues. Jorge pretty much covered most of the bases. Did they just show up one day or did they appear when you were working on it? I can think of several things it might be.

Well, I was cutting out a specific part of a picture but not with the lasso tool or the pen tool or something like that. I put a mask over the image and used the pencil tool in order to get the image the way I want it. I believe that's when the white spots appeared. So before I started recoloring.

Also, when I try to save the file as an image it ignores the recoloring. What's up with that?

Okay, I think I understand what you're getting at. Forgive me for asking, but I'll have to see the thing to give you a legitimate answer. Right now I'm more or less shooting in the dark.

As for it not saving, there's a really easy way around that, provided the picture's small enough. Printscreen it and paste it into Paint or something and crop the unwanted stuff out.

Well I think you can only see the white spots once you've start zooming in so I think the problem just lies there. I want the image to be small anyway so I guess there is no problem anymore. Thanks for the help anyway, guys.  :)
