FFIV PSP. Did you get your's yet?

I just picked mine up Friday afternoon and man is it sweet! I like the fact that the difficulty has been lessened to a degree rather then being the grinding force presented in both the GBA and DS versions. So it's somewhere in between FF2 US and FF4 J. Just as soon as I finish it then I'll start on the FFIV -Interlude- then play FFIV: The After Years. The character sprites look great. The Graphics are lovely. The game's airship sequences have been brought back up to speed as they were somewhat slow in the GBA and DS versions. You also have a choice of switching the remixed music with the original SNES music during gameplay which I thought was a nice retro touch. The story itself is decent. It's not in a hardcore fan translation as we see in the game hacks, but it's also not the horrible gibberish translation job Square did when we first got the game on the SNES. All in all, I'm glad I picked it up!  :D

I'm right at home with my old friends Cecil and Kain.  It's downright blasphemous for me to admit, but I've never played the After Years --something I mean to correct in the next week or 2...  The sprite art IS most impressive, but the choppy sprite animation dulls the appeal a little bit.

I was thinking of picking it up, but I was pretty dispointed they didn't carry the stuff over that made the DS version great, i.e, the script, the difficulty, and the voice acting.

This game is good and everything, but not good enough to warrant 10 billion versions of it.  No way I'm getting this.

I got it and I like it better then the DS version.  The voice acting in that one was god awful and even though it was 3D, the models looked old... almost PS1-like. I prefer the new 2D artwork. It looks awesome and crisp, even when I use TV-Out.  The CC retains the look and feel of the original without modifying the gameplay, and even adds 2 extra games = Ultimate version of FFIV.

I understand you're cynicism, but you should know that most of the fans are in it for The After Years, not the original.  For $30.00 its a better value than the Wii version, and the graphics are far, far superior.  The original game is just an added bonus really...

Square Enix really just needs to release a 1-6 compilation for some system. I got sick of trying to keep track of all of these long ago, but I'd be all over a compilation. Not that they will because they love making money in unjust ways, but one can dream, right?

They did make an "Anthology" and a set of "Chronicles" a while back.
That didn't do very well though, since they were terrible ports.

I'm aware of those, but I meant all six games on one disc/cart. Like the Mega Man Anniversary Collection.

It's do-able now especially with BLU Ray. I think a proper FF 1, 2: Dawn of souls, 3, 4, 4: -interlude-, 4: The After years, 5 and 6 would make a wonderful anthology. And have it come with lots of bonus material like official art, sound tests, etc.

I just want 6 to get the same treatment 4s gettin. It seems like the only oldschool FFs they ever focus on is 1 2 and 4

FF5 and FF6 were both revisited for the GBA.  I'm really surprised FF3 STILL hasn't been released in the traditional 2D.  At one time, they had it in the works for Wonderswan Color, but that got canned in favor of the 3-D remake on DS.  FF4 is unique in that it's the only old-school FF to get a true sequel.  Originally After Years was released only on cell phones in japan and later ported to Wiiware, but the exposure was kinda light.  So I can see what Squenix is doing here with this release --like I said, it's more about the After Years than the original.  If FF6 ever gets this kind of treatment it will be the wettest of wet dreams.

Stop it dude, I'm try'n to keep it down  :o

I personally think FF's 35 and 6 need to get the PSP FF's 1, 2 and 4 treatment. That would be cool  8)
