Topic: Belmont's Revenge

Besides faux controversy with Legends, the GB Castlevania games don't get a lot of attention. That's a shame, because Belmont's Revenge is a legitimately great game. It was interesting to see a title address just about every single problem with its predecessor. Though, Soleiyu is still one of the hardest bosses from any CV title, I think.
Go play it. Or replay it. Just play it.

Just about any true Castlevania fan has played Belmondo's Revenge. The boxart is incredible (even the logo), gameplay is tight, first game to prove that Belmonts can kick ass at literally any age, and i'm not even gonna mention the soundtrack boy. I personally liked climbing on ropes, while firing fireballs from the Holy Whip. A Castlevania ReBirth 2: Belmont's Revenge would be excellent, but the only downside is that it'll most likely be download :/

Only if this game was handled properly, unlike Adventure ReBirth which was a completely new game from the ground up. I loved playing Belmont's Revenge. It was sold. The problems addressed in the first game were all corrected. Yeah Christopher is still slow, but not as slow as he was in Adventure. And the new gimmicks provided in the game helped it along as well. Gimmicks like the addition of sub-weapons and sliding down ropes were very handy in some spots. Also this is the first CV game to feature the Mega Man aspect; Choosing which of the four castle to complete first. I personally think that Drac's itself could used another stage in there somewhere as it felt kinda short, although stage 2 in Drac's castle felt a little too long and listening to "Passpied" for that length of time started to feel boring. But then it kicked up good when that song fadded away (finally) and "Soleiyu's Room" started up

Pretty much any thread that even mentions Belmonts' Revenge (the best of the 3 GB 'vanias by far) clearly shows that the fans have nothing but love for that nice classic title.

Yeah, Belmont's Revenge was fun.  Chris is a little slow-moving, but the game is really good all around.

Now, Adventure 1 on the other hand.... GAHGHGAAGAHGHRRRGHTHOSE BATS!

I'm usually on Gamefaqs and the like. When people talk Castlevania, it's usually post-1997 titles. When talking about the older games, they usually focus on the original or SCIV, and almost never mention Belmont's Revenge. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Ah, that's just 'cuz sites like Gamefaqs are full of new-generation kids who probably never owned an original Gameboy.
However, out of the older titles, I can see why CV4 comes up often; it's quite a favorite and stands the test of time as a solid good title.  It's transcendent!

I don't underestand, why some kids, people think like that. I love all final fantasies and 6 is my most favorite from the old ones. The same goes for Castlevania games. As i said in another thread, i started in the series with Castlevania Adventure and after that one, Belmont's Revenge and this, because i didn't own a nes.... But later i have own a super nintendo and i got Super Castlevania IV and a friend of mine was having a Genesis (Mega Drive) and i've played Blood Lines!!!

Belmont's Revenge was a fantastic example of how the developers took that faults of the previous title (ie. Adventure) and fixed the main issues. The controls weren't nearly as clunky. The soundtrack improved. Level design improved. Bosses were more memorable. That made the game a hidden gem in the series, mostly because people were either turned off to the concept of a Gameboy Castlevania game due to Adventure, or simply because it was a Gameboy game period. Alot of people didn't give it a chance.

If they did, I can almost guarantee that it'd completely change their outlook. I played Belmont's Revenge when I got a Gameboy Advance back in 2005-06, and even then it was a fabulous game that's become one of my favs. That says alot.

There's a reason I don't post there, I'd have to bitchslap quite a few people for the old schoolers like me (yeah I have an account there and have posted a few times, usually to school someone who doesn't know about certain games).
