The statue in OoE's training hall.

First time starting a topic (not counting my art thread), so bear with me...

I don't know if it's just me seeing things, but is the statue in the beginning of Order of Ecclesia's training hall one of the Virgin Mary, or one of Lisa, Alucard's mother? The sleeves on the dress, which are tight to her arms and don't hang down like Mary's, and the general "poof" the dress has has me thinking it could be Lisa, plus I can kind of see some parts of what would be her hair draping down from her shoulder. The neckline of the dress looks more congruent to Lisa's as well.

Because Lisa is one of my favorite characters, this has been bugging me for a little while, since there are qualities that could have it be either person, and I've been making all sorts of guesses as to just who this lady is.

It could also just be some random lady, but I don't know if there'd be something like this in a hidden area for no reason at all.

I don't have my copy of OoE on me, so I've had to discern from youtube screenshots lately. This is the best quality I could find...

Bloody Mary in Portrait of Ruin, for a general idea.

Possible. Little things like this have a tendency to make me go absurd.

I suppose it can be Lisa, but I wonder why it would be in the Training Hall.

You'd think Drac would be a little more conspicuous with his memorials.

Now that is an interesting statue. Where is it from? (Is it real or from LoS? I never saw that before.)

Lisa does have a certain motherly quality that reminds me of statues of Mary (similar downcast expression and veil as well.)

That statue is featured in the epilogue of LoS (which has more Castlevania-like features than the rest of the game, lol)

even though it's most likely just a generic statue as said, it's the little details like these that the designers put in to make us wonder anyway. which is why 2D Castlevania should never die.

Yes, that's what I figured when whitedragon called him out on "wrong timeline" - I'm not terribly fond of LoS, I'm afraid, so I didn't play that far. I didn't even get to "Cornell" before putting my controller down...

Total n00b question: Is the epilogue included or must it be downloaded?

Anyhow, even if it were in the actual timeline, that statue would more likely be of Elisabetha than Lisa (whatever difference there is) due to the timeframe. And for some reason, the expression looks a bit too harsh to belong to either of them. I always did want to see a legitimate statue of Lisa and the child Alucard. I've drawn them a few times actually.

I'd say the Virgin Mary. I know Lisa had a portrait within Castlevania for the NitM manga prologue, but that's about it. No, I firmly believe they are of the Virgin Mary as she was around at least a thousand years before Lisa.

To view it you have to beat the game. But that's what YouTube is for :)

It gets much better after defeating Cornell. Crows Pass is one of the best levels in the game IMO. And from there you enter Vampire country and Necromancer land. (both of which have more of a traditional Castlevania feel to them than the first section of the game)
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

I always liked that statue, and wish that kind of thing wasn't exclusive to the extra maps.

As for is it Lisa? I don't know. Its too hard to tell. I'd judge it as Mary or a random. Especially since I think it's Ecclesia's training hall, not Dracula's, as the notion is a little funny to be around the Castle. Then again, we do have a Royal Chapel in Castlevania, so I guess anything is possible.
