CV: LoS Resurrection Impressions

Has anyone been playing it? I am about halfway through it. It is alot of fun for what it is, though short. Some fun, hiding and chasing moments so far.

It seems obvious to me that Konami meant to make these 2 DLCs into ONE, and then do an entirely NEW DLC after that. But plans must have changed and what would be the other DLC that we won't ever see, will probably be part of the proper sequel. I am ok with that if that is the case.

Thoughts?

I really enjoy Resurrection! I've even replayed it a few times now. The platforming is great, I love the FO stalking, and the fight is actually really fun when you figure out how it's done. No tanking this one out! You have to do it the oldschool way and figure out where to be and when. I wish more of the basic game had been more like this. I really enjoyed most of the game in general, but Resurrection by far takes the cake for some of my favorite gameplay moments. Reverie was too puzzle-heavy though.

I throughly enjoyed Resurrection, I agree it was too short though. IMO, the two DLC's should have been one, but Konami have turned its economic plans for Cv to a milking machine, so no surprise there.

As for the "extra" DLC which you insist should come after Resurrection Wallachia, I'm not sure I agree. By the end of Resurrection, and knowing how he ends up in the future, I think everything is wrapped up nicely but with enough left open for the sequel.

The DLCs are too short & way overpriced,
but I still luv playing both of them, especially Resurrection. The timed and stealth platforming were great.
The boss fights negate Ultimate moves (except for the right leg), nice move by MercurySteam.

Both DLCs did feel like they were just part of one package, released separately because of fan impatience and inaccurate company PR announcements :P
Both only explain how Gabriel became a vampire, and the unreleased/phantom DLC should show how he came to be in the Epilogue.

No one ever said that the DLC would show how he came to be in the Epilogue.  That was likely an assumption on your part.  It's likely that that scene was put there to show us where they intends to go eventually.  There may be a few games that take place in between.  After all, a lot could happen in a thousand years.

Sorry VK, I meant that these 2 DLC's we had, were planned to be as one. There won't be anymore after Resurrection, almost certainly. They will then focus on a true sequel, hopefully! BTW, does anyone know if they are officially doing a sequel? I imagine it would take alot of money and personnel to commit. Look at how many it took to make the 1st (looong) LoS game!

Back when the game first came out it was already leaked that they were in fact already working on the sequel.

They have an engine to go on now, so I imagine it won't be another three year wait for the sequel. The first one they had to build from the ground up. That's not necessarily true for the sequel.

I agree that a lot of things (and sequels) could happen in a thousand years but it's more than a blind assumption on my part.  A lot of people got the impression that the 2nd DLC would explain a little bit more from the official Konami Dec 22, 2010 DLC announcement.
Here's the article: http://konami.com/article/KONAMI_TO_BRING_TWO_NEW_DLC_PACKS_FOR/159

Resurrection was supposed to 'continue the story directly after the end of the original game and gives some insight into the dramatic epilogue...' but instead what we got was a direct continuation of Reverie.
That's probably why a lot of fans were disappointed with the DLCs, especially Resurrection, since it didn't really give us anything more about the Epilogue.

Be honest with yourself, you would've made that assumption too if you saw that article before Reverie came out.
But this is all beside the point of this thread, I like Resurrection :)

I think what they meant by the insight into the epilogue was given. It showed us how

The Forgotten One > Satan ...   WTF?  It would've been awesome if TFO was the main game's Final Boss and Satan was the DLC Boss.  Think about it...  Wouldn't it make worlds more sense if Gabriel had stolen Satan's power to become Dracula?

I disagree. TFO is dead. Plus, satan is actually more powerful than TFO, his power was only limited while he was on the mortal plane attempting to collect the Godmask.

I prefer having El Diablo as the main bad guy.
