Well, it's not like they can never go back finishing the classic timeline. But if they're gonna go the long way with the route of LoS, it might be several years before getting back to the basics.
Simple things like not recycling stuff from other games and taking the most annoying aspects away (like having to play hide and seek with some fat, thieving little asshole goblin or whatever Chupacabra is) might not be enough to steer the LoS boat to any kind of satisfying course. I mean, it's unlikely Gabriel the Dracula would spawn more miserable vampires to existence when he himself yearns to die (so bye to Belmonts vs Dracula), he got rid of his pseudo-VK (now there's some aproppriate symbolism) and even if the post-credits teaser was cool, I don't care to have another fistfight with a kind of gay Satan. I want to storm a castle while using a goddamn whip, eat meat from unexpected locations and remember the music years afterwards. You can give it to me with a decent story, but I don't need embarrassing pop culture jokes or references to another, grossly ubiquitous Konami series. And that should have been obvious. Some of you hate IGA with a passion. But did he ever needed to be told that putting a fucking Portal joke in a Castlevania game is a completely retarded idea? Figuring that out shouldn't be dependant on feedback. It's called common sense.
They changed too much in one sweep. But a public that doesn't give a shit about this series' roots, will gobble it up.
God, thinking all of this is such a downer. This was supposed to be a happy day, wasn't it?
