Just wait until we see what they do for The Great Metal Gear 25th Anniversary Celebration next year. Like rubbing salt in the wound.

Castlevania is dead and it all started with the release of LoS. No one cares about Castlevania anymore. Everyone just cares about fucking CoD, Gears of War, Halo, Madden etc.

Too see CV not getting love and being treated like trash but freaking frogger gets something makes me feel like this as for metal gear you can be it is goingto be explosive so to say salt in the wound is an understatement more like a shot in the foot.  :'(

What Colossal Castlevania Collection Guy said (BTW, check your PM box :D).

And..pretty much what you all said. Ten years ago, I wouldn't have expected this anniversary having been acknowledged only by a greenhorn producer whose comments have a faint scent of arrogance in them. Even if something's on the way, this is the birthday. When you think this series' history is presently pretty much just a target of lazy nods in a game that rides with its name, it makes me wonder what the core audience will be in 5 years and will they even care about this history.

Castlevania isn't dying, but I don't need Cox to tell me that. Besides, I know he's not talking about the same Castlevania.

I saw some people were even tweeting him "Happy Anniversary @CastlevaniaLOS" or "@CastlevaniaLOS Thank you for some of the greatest moments of my gaming life".

He works on one game and is now being treated like he owns the franchise?!?!

Sounds like Konami gave David full control of the series.

The Castlevania as we knew it is dead. :(

Well with things going the way they are now as far as Castlevania goes, I'd say Igarashi's days as being the head of the Castlevania series are juuuuuuust about numbered, so they're going with the new guy.

E3 2012 is gonna bring some tear's both bloody and salty.

I couldn't care less about E3 anymore, that whole show is a gigantic joke. It gets progressively worse each year. They're better off announcing the next game at a different convention.

And believe it or not some fans are actually ok with that.

Even if it could mean that we will never see a true classic (or metroidvania) 2.D game ever again.

Unless its in the form of a huge pile of recycled mess with no story and no depth as a simple playable Xbox Live Arcarde/PSN downloadable game.

Neat?

I would be ok with it too if Mercury Steam actually took the criticism they've received into consideration.

I feel the same.

But it seems MS is bent on doing this reboot to the castlevania mythos their way and not the fans way.

So maybe they will listen to SOME of the fans input but it will only be minor in my opinion.

Thats why I would love it if Konami would atleast have something to fall back on if LOS2 does not do so well.

Like still releasing classic games that cater to some of their older and more hardcore fanbase.

After all we are the ones that stuck by the for so long.

Well, it's not like they can never go back finishing the classic timeline. But if they're gonna go the long way with the route of LoS, it might be several years before getting back to the basics.

Simple things like not recycling stuff from other games and taking the most annoying aspects away (like having to play hide and seek with some fat, thieving little asshole goblin or whatever Chupacabra is) might not be enough to steer the LoS boat to any kind of satisfying course. I mean, it's unlikely Gabriel the Dracula would spawn more miserable vampires to existence when he himself yearns to die (so bye to Belmonts vs Dracula), he got rid of his pseudo-VK (now there's some aproppriate symbolism) and even if the post-credits teaser was cool, I don't care to have another fistfight with a kind of gay Satan. I want to storm a castle while using a goddamn whip, eat meat from unexpected locations and remember the music years afterwards. You can give it to me with a decent story, but I don't need embarrassing pop culture jokes or references to another, grossly ubiquitous Konami series. And that should have been obvious. Some of you hate IGA with a passion. But did he ever needed to be told that putting a fucking Portal joke in a Castlevania game is a completely retarded idea? Figuring that out shouldn't be dependant on feedback. It's called common sense.

They changed too much in one sweep. But a public that doesn't give a shit about this series' roots, will gobble it up.

God, thinking all of this is such a downer. This was supposed to be a happy day, wasn't it? :D

It should've been a happy day.  :( I'm not even mad that a new game wasn't announced, but that Konami seems to be completely ignoring it. It's an insult to both the franchise and the fans.

Though the gif in your sig kinda cheers me up.  :D

Bringing LOS into Castlevania's 25th anniversary celebrations just feels awkward
It's like a unapologetic murderer showing up to their victims funeral, it doesn't seem at all appropriate.
