What I wonder is whether they were seriously considering using some of those designs in the game
two of Sonia's outfits have visible nipples even when she is clothed & the Belmont with a stake for a middle finger is pretty... erm unique?

I hate that this game got canceled. I thought it looked amazing then, and I still think it looks to have captured the spirit of Castlevania—which I can't say for any of the other post-N64 3D games.

Even incomplete, I'd love to play this.

And holy hell, this game's use of color... I hate how drab a lot of games look these days. Game developers should take some notes from Mario Bava and Dario Argento on how color can enhance a dark mood.

"We thought of a level where it's black and white, monochromatic, like the old Dracula 30s movie, with film grains and everything."

Anyone beside me think that this is a really cool idea for a Castlevania game? Think about it: the first game came about as a sort of reaction and love note to old Universal horror/monster pictures, and the first three games in the series all feature intros with sprocket holes to indicate moving film frames. It sounds perfect.

The stupid thing is, that this game is pretty much 100% complete, but is now locked away somewhere because of the cancellation of the Dreamcast.

A pretty cool idea would be to release this game for Wii Virtual Console or something as a free download or for a reasonable price.

The Wii's virtual console was one of the main reasons that I purchased the console but alas it's looking mighty dead right now, I know of at least one dreamcast game that has been released on Xbox live though.

personally I'd much prefer see a castlevania collection (or collections) with resurrection included.

Only if they remake the graphics AND the models. They look FUGLY as hell.
A treatment like Zelda OoT 3D would be great before releasing it.

If they'd remake it, totally the graphics and models, but also the designs in general. Get, like, Ayami Kojima to handle the main character re-designs, and hire more accomplished artists to tackle the enemy designs. For instance, Death riding a horse is cool, but redesigned, I'd rather see him riding a demonic skeleton horse with giant bat wings, breathing fire and such.

Also, re-design the story too. The whole, "time where there was no Belmont present so the existance of balance summoned Belmonts from other time periods to balance the evil that was Dracula" was stupid in concept. Tweak it a bit so that both Sonia and Victor have valid reasons for existing together without some "time summoning" thing. Set the game right after Legends, or retcon Legends and establish Sonia as existing in a later time(Or even use the bit about her being Eric Lecarde's ancestor). Establish Victor as her brother or cousin(or something), and away we go. Nix the female Dracula chick(urgh), and keep the story simple. Don't toss in a gimick just for the sake(time travel is almost always a gimick).

Might as well make a new game, huh.
We don't even know how the game plays beyond a video with walking IIRC, and the things you want change in are like the only things we know about.

The only real gripe I have for this game is the way Sonia looks. She needs to go back to a more 'Anime' look that she had going for her in Legends. That's how we first saw her and that's how she should continue to be presented. Unless of course a really good artist comes along and gives her a look that will pass with flying colors, I'd be fine with that too.

Go by trendy logic, and just REBOOT the game. Keep Sonia and Victor, but do something totally new with the story. At most, keep the gist of the location design(particularly the town area seen in the pictures). The rest, all new.

They really dont even NEED time travel to have 2 Belmonts.

here's an idea. Sonia is the heir to vampire Killer, and Victor is still a Belmont who ran away from his destiny. He could be Sonia's brother or something. Or make him older and be her uncle. Thus he is still a Belmont, but he doesnt use a whip, and has his own play style. Evil arises and fate makes it so he has to face his destiny and aid Sonia.
