I dont understand why people are so surprised of this.
I'm not. Seriously I'd rather see Konami not celebrating this anniversary , if all they're going to give us is some lame game like HoD or a soundtrack.

And now for a cartoon reference of my own: here we are, sitting on the sidelines expecting something totally epic, Konami does announce something ridiculously epic, and when we pop it into our systems we'll find...a Castlevania walk cycle.

I would not be surprised.

Is taht the original metal gear solid for 360/ps3?

That'd be pretty sweet. It was my favorite after all. I hope they don't release it as some half assed port. I would normally expect them to but it's metal gear... so theres a little hope this time.

lol, for some reason, i was thinking the same thing when i was reading all the hate HD's been getting.

Though right now, i wouldn't mind getting that game right now, but a different game would be nice. Then again, i'm one of the few people in this forum who hasn't played HD at all so it'll kinda be a treat for me (i lack a 360).

An anniversary game would be nice, but if all we're getting is HD for PS3, then its best to savor what we get, though the only people that will actually enjoy it are the ones that haven't played it at all, like me for example.

I just hope Konami rebalances the characters in the PSN version Since Jonathan pretty much becomes useless when richter was released because he was so hard to lvl and didn't have much to make up for it.

It'd be much better if they just have him use other weapons aside from the vampire killer, that'd probably make him more unique compared to the other whip users. Sure he'd probably be similar to soma in a way, but only in terms of equipment. Plus it'd be nice to use the whips unique to jonathan, and in a way they can still have his VK power up through leveling up sub weapons (since that's how you power it up in this game)

I dont understand why people are so surprised of this. I remember reading that IGA didnt knew of CV 20 anniversary when he was doing PoR (Though he did made up for that next year with DXC Chronicles)

Konami's PoR pre-order bonus was for the 20th anniversary. So I'm surprised they wouldn't do something similar for the 25th (unless you count the Japan-only tribute albums, I guess).

I liked it, but I'd never say it was without substantial flaws, or that it meets the overall quality of the rest of the series. Similar thing for me with Judgment: I had fun with it for a while, but I'd much rather have had something of better quality, something closer to what the series has been known for.

No, I consider it dead because Lords of Shadow was a giant let down and the only thing we got this year was DLC and Harmony of Despair, all of the above were incredibly underwhelming.

Dead was an exaggeration on my part, but it's close enough to the truth whether you want to admit it or not. Metal Gear is Konami's #1 and only priority.
Wrong.
If another series is priority to the gaming company it doesn't automatically mean that all other series will be put to the rest.

And as matter of fact, as long as there are new games in the series that bears Castlevania name (no matter who created them and how good they are) series is not dead. Like it or not.

Considering how much Mercury steam believes there game is a tribute to the classic Castlevania's
Since when? from day one it was "Forget what you knew about castlevania". From the start Cox was trying to make his own CV vision, not a tribute.

Lurk moar.

I'm pretty sure at one stage they claimed LOS was a love letter to classic castlevania games, plus there is all the wonderfull homages they threw in like you know the hero being a Belmont (when he's actually not) & the whip (which they just destroy anyway).

COX said [MercurySteam] wanted to pay homage to the classic games, but they didn't want to be a slave to them. Which is why they chose to copy Shadow of the Collosus instead(?)
