I'd love to get this Silent Hill collection, but the redone voices seriously turns me off. Particularly since the voices of James and Mary/Maria are so essential to the storytelling and mood in SH2. Remove them and you've removed the heart and soul of the game. That and the new voices are shitsauce. (Apparently Mary Elizabeth McGlynn directs people to give real breathy vocal performances. MORE BREATH AND GRITTY VOICE MAKES FOR INCREASED DRAMA.)

Then it sound like the PC versions do a better job.

Yeah, if I really care to have the games in HD, I'll just pick up the PC versions and max out the res, heh.

It's funny how modern lingo affects things. There's no way ten years ago anybody would be firing up a PC game and saying, "I's gon' put it in HD!" No, you'd just be setting it to a high resolution, is all. Which a'course is the same thing, BUT I HOPE YA KNOW WHAT AH MEAN.

But of course!  ;D

I have all 5 main games on my machine. Yup even the SH1 'port'. And If I could I through in Origins too. It's just convenient and I get this wierd little school-girl giggle when I see them together on the same menu. One of the first things I did when I got my Wii was put all the Splatter House games on the same screen and I giggled then too. ^___^

Apparently the old voices are now back. Or at least available as an option. Dunno if it's the same for SH3.

That's some sweet news! Hopefully it'll all come together and I see they've pushed back the release date to early 2012 now so there's plenty of time to set everything straight. There was a huge outcry about this issue throughout the Silent Hill fanbase and it's nice to know that Konami has finally listened. I just wish it didn't have to come to having a ka-jillion fans twisting Konami's arm about it just so they'd eventually fix it. But, hey, it's unfortunately up to the fans sometimes because big-time corporate video game company's just want money and not satisfying everybody...

Examples like this really makes me wonder if the Capcom fans will eventually get Mega Man Legends 3 now since there's been an even bigger outcry about that situation. Hmm... only time will tell.

That's fucking AAAAAWEsome! I get the feeling SH3 won't have the original voices, but, despite the one dude dying...I don't really care too much; I never thought the voice acting in that game was all too great. McGlynn directed the voices originally anyway, so perhaps there's room for improvement. Maybe. Except now they have the difficult and unnatural task of fitting the voices to the lip movements instead of the other way around.

I imagine since Donna Burke is already covered, they'd just need Vincent's VA and Heather Morris to agree as well, since like you said, Douglas's died.
