The new ones are prequels to the original series.

And i heard something along the lines of Sonia being the girl he ends up within the original series.

Yeah Sonia is really Irene Lew for some reason.

That's counter intuitive. It would make much more sense if they were sequels. Even then there are still things that don't fit, but not as many as if they are taken as prequels. I always viewed them as a reboot having more of a connection to Dead or Alive, though.

Yep, but I haven't got a clue how that comes out to be... odd. But whatever...

The new Ninja Gaiden games are in canon with Dead or Alive. The NES games don't fit. I used to think that the first ninja gaiden for XBOX was a prequel until ninja gaiden II came out. Ninja Gaiden II is essentially ninja gaiden I from the NES with a completely rewritten plot but with the familiar "Demon Statue" and the Arch Fiend; the original final boss. But the demon was made into a fiend rather then remaining as the demonic alien that came to earth in the ancient inter-dimensional ship of doom. The xbox ninja gaiden also had a demon statue but it was light-colored while Ninja Gaiden II had the dark demon statue. The only other NG games I played was the one for the Genesis (That one's got bugs up the wazoo) and NG for the sega master system. It plays like its NES counterpart except with some better control, a grappling hook and smoother animation. The graphics I've noted to be slightly better and it an entirely different story. But hey! It's Ninja Gaiden. "Gaiden" means "side story" in Japanese so it's not as if all game were made to fit together.

DOA5 seems pretty good though.

TGS 11: Debut Trailer HD - Dead or Alive 5

Maybe NG3 might lose some of it's new "features."

It definitely looks better. Might actually be worth some attention. But we'll see.

Looks pretty sweet, damn Ryu is an unmerciful jerk.

Imagine what it's like being one of those guards. You're patrolling, it's a quiet night, you're looking forward to eating that ham sammich your wife made you for lunch and then BAM! Suddenly there's a ninja in your midst, and he's killing EVERYONE!!! Poor guys were probably placed in that job by a temp agency.

It may be that the difficulty is part of how the game programming allows you to more closely role-play a real life ninja. The enemy attack trajectories force you to be precise with your attacks as a ninja would have to be when he performs an assassination, as well as allow you to practice the eastern virtue of patience.
Nothing scares me, I'm a smart guy and I'll tell you one thing for certain: fear is irrational. Being the know-it-all I am, mocking foolish fears is an amusing pastime for me.  In fact there is no doubt in my mind that living in the modern world, free of all danger and uncertainty, I'll ever have to face my own death, which is after all the most basic and silly of all fears...
