This perfectly embodies my memories of the original.

Only the NES Trilogy, the Xbox/ps3 versions are pretty weak.

Hardly... did you beat MasterNinja?

Strangely enough, I got within inches of it. Thing was though, by the time I had gotten all the way to the end on Master Ninja for NGB (which was evil-hard!!! And just plain malicious!!) and died, i had been playing the game for so many hours mastering it, that I got bored and ceased to care. I knew that I could do it, and needed a break from the game. Life was busy and I never went back to it.

Good Lord that game was hard!!

NG2 is even worse. 99% of your deaths are from some dingus shooting fire at you from off screen. Really wanted to slap Ita for that one. Was just plain cheep. I think I beat up to the second or third to last difficulty, and just stopped due to how cheap it was.

Ninja Gaiden... *sigh* memories. Memories of cussing and swearing my head off at the screen every single time I had my @$$ handed to me on a "Golden" platter. I was somewhat disappointed with the newer games as they didn't follow up on the story of the popular NES titles. However they've grown on me and I still enjoy playing them even if they beat the living crap outta me time and again. I must be a mascocist  :P

Eh, I couldn't beat MasterNinja is NGB. Beat VH but lvl 1 was destroying me in MN. Beat NG2 though.

NG2 was fun, though you got hit from off screen, it wasn't that bad imo, I just didn't like the rocket spammers.

LOL, welcome to the party. The swearing I did while playing NGB on the harder difficulties was epic. Those cat-women that would always jump at you from off screen were officially labeled  "c*nts" in my book.

Did you beat it on the harder difficulties as well? If so, mad props to you.

NG2? yes I beat it on all the difficulties. I think roughly 3 months after release. =D
I never got the extras, so I only got the 1000 epeen points.

But in NGB, i only beat up to VH and Eternal Legend on normal. Which took forever, btw. Ridiculously hard imo.
