Badassness is entirely subjective.

And seriously, Samus survived the first Metroid. THE FIRST METROID. I think that deserves some badass points.

Samus is badass, Other M is Non-Canon. two reasons.
that woman is NOT Samus Aran.
Fusion is after that, in which none of those events were recalled even though the events of metroid 3 were.

Oh I forgot about Other M.  I could see how that make someone think samus was a non-badass.  Metroid is probably my favorite series, but I hated Other M so badly that I blocked it out.

I never really got into Metroid to be honest... though I do like the character.

Still I can agree taht she seems pretty bad ass. But can she beat Kirby?!

Here are my top five.

Simon Belmont: The first Conan-esque vampire hunter that put the CV series on the map!

Samus Aran: The first Heroine whom has survived countless horrors of alien worlds, pirates, traps and even came back from near-death.

Mario: A renowned plumber from the streets of Brooklyn NY who, despite being slightly overweight can kick the @$$ out of all the baddies he comes across. And he's JUST A PLUMBER!!

Master Higgans: While he too, is slightly overweight, this guy really gets around! He's fought monsters, sorcerers and even aliens with their advanced technology...with only stone axes and wooden boomerangs! did I say he REALLY get's around?

Link: The hero of Hyrule who saves the kingdom time-and-again from the evil pig-like wizard Ganon. Every time Ganon is resurrected a century after his defeat, Link follows suit and the two just "Duke" it out for all of eternity. Now that's commitment.

1) no, just no, top 5 overrated maybe, even when I did play FF7 many moons ago, Kefka beats him out
2 I take it he's a Tekken character, no Heihachi seems more so

5) Does he play for the Kansas City Chefs (see old Snicker ad) and was beaten soundly by Bub and Bob in old Gamespot poll of greatest hero(s). Take Gamespot polls with a dose of doubt and a grain of salt.
