Time for another castlevania rage...
'Was playing rondo of blood and I just realized something...
THEY ARE JUST AS HARD AS THE ONES IN CV3!
Maybe even HARDER!
So leave a comment and tell me how you experienced the medusas in rondo of blood.

I barely noticed the medusas in rondo of blood to be honest. There weren't that many sections with them in it (I can only remember 2 - 3), and even then they are not of the cheap degree that is more present in Castlevania 3 (I could also say CV 1, but other things gave me more hassle then the medusa heads).

Once or twice I can get caught off guard and they hit me down a pit, but mostly I have no trouble with them at all. Certainly not enough to invoke any form of frustration or rage. Only CV 1 - the first time around, sorta - and 3 have done that to me, and the frustration came from everything as a whole, and not focused on the Medusa heads. Maybe it's because I've already heard of their horrors that it didn't effect me when I played the game.

Although, if you're playing the snes port "dracula X", then that might be a different story altogether. Now that game I heard the cheapness is somewhat more present, especially the final boss.

Edit: Just to be clear, the snes game "dracula X" is technically rondo of blood, but different stage layouts, less maidens to save, and a lot more cheapness.

They aren't that hard on that game, I don't even remember in which area they are.
Of the Cvs I played the only Medusa Heads I remember being very annoying to the point of making me quit were the ones in Super Castlevania IV, but I assume the oldest games are probably harder.

If my memory serves me right, they were present in normal stage 2, alternate stage 5, and the later half of stage 7:
Stage 2 all they could possibly do is knock you down to the lower path, which isn't much of a loss.

alternate stage 5 they are present when you're in a room with a higher and lower path. Them being a bit of a pain for the lower path, not sure why anyone would want to go down there <- says that after going down there out of curiousity. They are also present when you take the upper path and are crossing over the section with the spear guards that are over turning platforms, though even then that's not that difficult to deal with if you take your time. Richter can take a few shots unlike his predecessors who fly back 5 feet for every hit.

Last section is in stage 7 when you need to climb those cogs to reach the door. They're a little annoying when trying to get on the small cogs, but nothing that will instant kill you.

... I'm such a nerd to remember that

The Medusa heads in Rondo were not so much a problem per se as I found them to be in Rondo's SNES counterpart; Castlevania: Dracula X. The only real hassle in Rondo was going through the clock tower. The Medusa heads there were more of an annoyance then a threat really.

Don't feel too down in the dumps, everyone's got something that will throw them off. According to my fellow commentator in my playthrough its the axe knights, though personally I find the skeleton pillars to be the bane of my castlevania existence. I loathed fighting them in the classics.

I actually love the Cv3 Hard mode Medusa Heads, they are very unpredictable and you'd have to stratitize platforming.

They're not Medusa heads in hard mode. They're those floating skulls from Castlevania 2, just redressed and given an unpredictable flight path. God! They are annoying as hell! I died on the first stage because of them. Nothing else, it was all them! Guhhh... I hate them  :P

The medusa heads that are just before the doppelganger are incredibly annoying. I take so much hits in the section before, then I have to get past them just to fight a just as annoying boss.

Already did a test playthrough up to Dracula in preparation for my LP playthrough of it, I'm not particularly looking forward to it  :-\ I WILL beat this game, even if only normal mode.

Always found the SoTN Clock Tower Medusas the most annoying. Especially since Alucard leaps backward like 50 feet whenever he's hit with anything from a skeleton bone to a giant axe to the face.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

Medusa's in Rondo are nothing compared to CV1 and CV3.  The Medusa's in Rondo are never really much of an obstacle.

I'd agree with CV3, but the Medusa heads are never particularly bad in CV1. The only time they really got to me is when they are in the same room as axe knights, as you have very little room to dodge (level 5, in the room right before Death).

They never really gave me trouble in Rondo though. Once you get used to their flight path, they are only a small nuisance.

Honestly, I've played these so much that the only Medusa Heads that really give me trouble are, oddly, in OoE or PoR's goddamn Level 1 Hard. Or that asshole pair at the very end of the collapsing bridge section in Chronicles/X68k.
