"Lords of Shadow 2" is going to be a good game. I'm confident there's going to be a lot less wall-shimmying, pointless QTE's & Titan fights, MercurySteam isn't stupid and they listen to fan complaints.

Here's hoping.

Wasn't absolutely crazy about the first one, but it was good enough that I'm curious to see where it goes.

I'm relieved to hear that they still had a Belmont-Dracula feud in mind.

The way I see it, LoS had all this shit that Cox initially said wouldnt be in it because its shit that sells. IOW- he puit in titan fights. put in wall shimmying. put in big hollywood style orchestrated movie style music. Because its the shit other games do nowadays. They werent sure how well it would sell, which is also why they included that epilogue. they put in elements and shit that sell these days, and included that epilogue, in hopes that the combination would sell well enough for a sequel so they can tell their story.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

And I will do it anytime I can, every day that passes comes with the realization that IGA was terrible in lots of aspects for the series :P
The thing is, these guys have -according to this- lots of stories connected in a way that /makes sense/, they have no reason to make fillers, for the sound of this they have material for lots of games, generations could pass even before we see the arc completed

Not only is the "blame IGA" meme horribly ubiquitous (making your attitude very silly), you have blind faith in the story-telling capabilities of the guys who have made one single game with a story that leaves a lot to be desired for. It's like your IGA-bashing sentiment is so strong you would praise any kind of turd someone makes - as long as it is not IGA making it.

Just because there is room in this timeline, doesn't mean it's going to be omg awesome (all the Classic timeline really needs after completing the old one is a proper reboot). And with the first game's original characters being hollow namedrops, I'm not expecting them to do justice to the classic conflict of Castlevania. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. They may feel free to pleasantly surprise me, though. A great game truly fitting the Castlevania name will impress me, not another subtle sales pitch meant to create hype.

Castlevania for years has been known for its tromping through a gigantic castle on a hunt for dracula,
Not in every single game actually. And there could be done much more than just "going through the evil castle"...again.

I'm not expecting them to do classic Castlevania at all. I hope that thye will do their own thing, no matter how many old fans it disappoint. For the classic Castlevania I have 26+ games, so I want to see something new from the series, not retelling of the old canon with the new graphics.
Though most likely old fans, too stuck with the old views, so they will not appreciate new ideas. Such is a destiny of all old franchises it seems.

I'd take what Ahasverus says with a grain of salt. He always goes on these Cox-induced tirades whenever some new LoS-related story breaks. And then, when the high dies down, he's always apologizing for being a douche.  ;D

For me personally I do want them to do something new. But they were trying new things before Lords of Shadow. Look at Order of Ecclesia for example. The glyph system, the way the stages were set up while retaining the metroidvania style, the town with quests. It was an experimental game but it did not copy other games like God of War, Uncharted or SotC. The only game is took que's from were the older castlevania titles but it was still experimental.

So I agree that the series needs to evolve but IGA could do it just as well as COX if you ask me and he could do it without copying so many other games.

IGA is known for introducing new game mechanics which I recognize, but his way with story-telling leaves many, many things to be desired.

The thing is, you can do new things without forsakening all that is old. It's some crazy notion people have nowadays that, if you reboot something, or continue on to make something relevant again, you have to basically shun everything before it and do something new for the sake of new, because, quite frankly, people who NEVER KNEW of the series have expectations and despite not knowing, nor being familiar with the series, DO know that the classic themes are bad bad BAD.

This is really amusing.

Lords of Shadow went out of its way to destroy the Belmont clan, but now we're supposedly going to see the sequel pull some kind of dues ex machina and make it all better.  I wonder, where will this new Belmont come from?  Maybe Gabriel and Marie had a child that Lords of Shadow was too lazy to tell us about...  Maybe someone else assumes the Belmont name just as cheaply as Gabriel himself did...  Or maybe Gabula has a rebound and seduces a woman into bearing him Alucard Belmont!!!   ;D

And IGA is the one accused of sloppy story-telling.

Zobek becomes the Poltergeist King and gives the new Belmont the Vampire Killer to troll Gabeula and Satan at once.

Baba Yaga comes back to life for about five minutes before being killed in a missile drone strike.

Zobek plots to foil the new Belmont even after giving him the Vampire Killer but forgets why, embarrassingly right as his "plot twist monologue" cue shows up. Belmont gets impatient and leaves Zobek to fight the final boss.

(if LoS2 has any of these plot points I will buy two copies)

I do speak my OWN opinion from time to time.  Don't make the mistake of thinking everything that I say represents the rest of the group --when in doubt, check the Mission Statement.
