Link goes to an artists site. He's made a collection of animated 8-bit landscapes (using a color cycle).

Would really love to see some XBL games that look like this.

Looking on that image, it reminds me of lion heart, a game for amiga 1200. I would love to see a remake of that game!!!

Those are some DAMN fine pics! Reminds me of the games for the PC98. Those images are all well done and I seriously hope this guy doesn't quite anytime soon.

Awesome, thanks for the link. Those are fantastic, I would love to see some games like this too. Love the swamp and forest scenes especially.

Fucking incredible. The palette on the side is a nice touch, too.

Definitely! However I have learned recently that 8-bit is really quite expansive. The only reason we didn't see stuff like this on the NES or Sega Master System was due to hardware limitations. It's nice to know computers nowadays can go "all out" if you need them to.

That and people didn't know how to push the envelope. You see things even today on various sites about how the NES's palette was so limited and crappy, but the programmers could alter the palette themselves if they set the right flags. But yeah, the NES's hardware kinda limited this, at least until the newer chips were integrated.

This isn't too far off the old DOS and Win95 games, like King's Quest, just a little more spruced up.
