Again, I'm talking just a rerelease of the original game, with maybe a graphical filter.

If you want to discuss what games you want REMADE, may I request that you make a dedicated thread for that? All this talk of remakes is derailing the thread off the topic I wanted to get your opinions on.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

I don't really understand this topic. Why would you care about a game that is re-released without anything new? That doesn't really seem all that interesting, or something to be excited about.

bad? the Graphics were right on par with the SNES. Both were 16 bits. The music is the difference.

You serious? Bloodlines doesn't even compare to CV4. DXX had even sharper visuals.

One look at John's stair climbing animation is all you need.

I'm definitely with you in saying the sound chip is the real bugger in the whole thing, and it's something that could use a good makeover. I'm sure Michiru Yamane wouldn't mind in the least.
Well, i didint mean difference in a  bad way- I like the Bloodlines soundtrack. It's so different.

I havent played either in a long time. I just recall that Bloodlines looked pretty good to me.

Nothing.
I'd prefer to see new games.

Actually, I'm really looking forward to LoS2, so I suppose my "hypothetical" last Cv is actually being made.

But, I do admit that I would LOVE a remake of Cv3, done with high-def 2D sprites like Rayman Origins, and with perhaps a few added stages and moves (like how Richter has), and up-dated boss battles.
Behold my true form......IS A CHAIR!!!

Basically, the one game you think every fan should have one last opportunity to play on a console or handheld. The one game that DEFINES Castlevania to you, as it were; one that could stand and still hold up after all these years. A game that serves as an indicator of the series at it's best, without the need to be remade or altered to stay relevant.

If you knew Konami would let you pick their very last rerelease of a Castlevania, what would you pick? Why would you pick it?

Mine was Circle of the Moon, and for my reasons, refer to my opening post.

If there was a collection of all the GBA and DS Castlevania games on 3DS I suppose that would be pretty cool. Or just put them on the store.

I'd like Harmony of Dissonance with updated graphics and music, and a sort of Master Quest version with the difficulty way, way higher than the original. That said, it would be ideal if whoever would do it would understand all the charms of the original game and not cover them up with boring conventional stuff.

This is why I said "kinda". The graphics aren't too bad, they're not the best either. They prolly could have made the game look better. On the other hand, the soundtrack is pretty good. And unlike someone said before, the sound chip doesn't bug me at all. It sounds old and too high pitched, but I like it that way  :P.

I'll play along. Super Castlevania IV for me was THE definitive game out of all of Castlevania in my heart. Even today it still stands the test of time and I've never grown tired of playing it. The only thing I'd have Konami change is the story intro. The US intro made the game sound like a sequel rather then what it really was; a remake.

What I liked about Bloodlines was that reflection effect used in that one level.

You're referring to the water's mirror effect in the Atlantis shrine stage. I thought that was cool too and it does play with your eyes if you let it.

Wow this thread is great. While bloodlines isn't the most popular CV out there it seems is the one we all see with more potential to become the epitome of the series.

Bloodlines would have been so much more if it wasn't weighted down by the Genesis' hardware limitations and sound module. same deal with Contra: Hardcorps.
