Aria of Sorrow, by far. That game had an incredible atmosphere.

Harmony of Dissonance, closely followed by Aria of Sorrow.

Successor's favorite handheld title is Harmony of Dissonance?? I would've never guessed.

Does Simon's Quest Tiger Watch count as a handheld?

It's annoying how people act like I go gushing about Harmony of Dissonance all the time, or something.

"Oh, The Successor! Yeah, that Harmony of Dissonance guy!"

I only ever talk about it when it's relevant, and it's not like it's the only Castlevania game I discuss or like.

I can only imagine this 'Great Defender' title I've somehow been stuck with on this forum has something to do with my liking Harmony of Dissonance, which is dumb to me, because I don't often give enough of a damn what people like or think about games to be a Great Defender.

Why are you getting all defensive, bro? I was obviously being sarcastic, sheesh. HoD is an ok game.

It's a tie between Belmont's Revenge and Harmony of Dissonance for me.

Puwexil put it well regarding Belmont's Revenge.

Normal mode in HoD is a little boring due to it being too easy, but in hard mode you are faced with a better challenge, so I mostly just play hard mode. I love the eerie atmosphere throughout the game, the soudntrack(quality and all, I feel the soundtrack really adds to the experience of HoD), the enemy designs, a lot of the bosses, the subweapon and magic system... It's just a great game to me.

Hate to rain on your parade, but, you kinda do.

OoE is my favorite of the portables. AoS is the second I suppose. I do have a soft spot for HoD, but it fails badly in play control, music, and sprites versus Aria. CotM has it's quirks too but I think that one is more solid than HoD, even if more bland than the average CV title. DoS was fairly meh, but Julius mode saved it so much. For me it bumps it just a bit higher than CotM. PoR I don't even want to think about. It had so much potential and then it was just shit in the end. So to summarize in order;

OoE
AoS
DoS
CotM
HoD
PoR

Probably Circle of the Moon. Not entirely sure why, either. I did really like its version of Vampire Killer, too.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.
