i just beat bs Zelda third quest today. now I'm working on the ancient stone tablets. what great games. Nintendo should really put these on the wii shop channel.  I can't believe there is a complete 16 bit version of the original Zelda and hardly anyone knows about it.

I can't get it to work in my Snes9XGX for Wii.  Doesn't the ROM have to be hacked because of some bullshit timer the game has?  It's very annoying to play.  I'd rather play B.S. F-Zero 2.

There are complete working patches for BS Zelda the second quest and 2 hacks called third quest and fourth quest.
The stone tablet game is another bs game based on Zelda 3 that is a pseudo sequel.

Never even heard of this before. Would love to play it. I've never been able to get into the NES Zelda games, and to be perfectly honest, an updated 16-bit version would entice me to play much more.

yeah kinda. They look like LttP but they came out on that satellite only japanese SNES addon. You can get em all for emu some more hacked to work than others. Most of em replace the girl and boy sprites with LttP Link.

The Zelda 1 version is prolly the best version of Zelda 1 you can get

Yeah the Zelda Classic replicates the BS Zelda really well. That and you can make your own Zelda-type game if your so inclined. I never actually got around to try and make my own game however there are tons of homemade resources and several of the fan-made games I've played are really well done. Some of them I couldn't play through cause I got stumped... You know it's a well thought out game when you get stuck  :'(

FYI you can order a physical copy of the game from this website (it'll cost $52.00 on the wallet): http://www.gamereproductions.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=90

Actually, no. Ancient Stone Tablets is a pseudo-sequel that was broadcast several years after Zelda 3 came out.
They released complete translation patches for all 4 parts not too long ago on ROMHacking.net.

I just watched that Retrospective and it was pretty cool. I also downloaed the BS editions and have been playing them on the big "E." The upgrade to nes Zelda is pretty solid! Haven't played through the Ancient Stone Tablets yet, I already got the Translation patch for it and everything. One game at a time...lol

Nice I'm glad you liked that video. That guys pretty good. He's introduced me to quite a few good games that I wasn't aware of. I'm almost done with ancient stone tablets. I just started chapter 3. Its so good. It's like an actual direct sequel to a link to the past. I don't know why nintendo doesn't release these games on their virtual console. these games would sell like crazy.

Why play B.S. Zelda when you can play Zelda Classic?

Sorry to hijack the thread but I thought this recent article might be useful for you guys.

The best zeldaclassic quests according to one very enthusiastic person:

Also, Hi, new user here  :P

The first time I've heard of b.s. Zelda was in Retro Gamer (best mag ever), in a feature about the SNES if I recall correctly.
