Just wondering what type of mix you guys would like to see?

Here are my two:

1. Wojciech Kilar

2. Trent Reznor

If these two collaborated on a CV soundtrack I would wet myself with glee.

Yuzo Koshiro. I thought his stuff in PoR was top-notch, and he outshone Yamane (whose music was still great, but she came roaring back into excellent form with OoE). I'd like to hear an entire soundtrack by him for a 2D game.

That would be absolutely Biblical.

I personally wouldn't mind hearing Masahiko Kimura with, to piggyback hero, Yuzo Koshiro.

But then there'd be no pipe organ or harpsichord. *trollface*

I'd choose Hitoshi Sakimoto. Fucking brilliant composer. Even though its gameplay baffles me Vagrant Story had phenomenal music.

Or, provided they're still working on game music or even alive, whoever did CV4's music.

Oh, but Jake "virt" Kaufman, of course. Especially after hearing his work on Bloodrayne Betrayal. Also, Contra 4. Not to mention that he works for game studio WayForward, an excellent choice for the next 2D Castlevania.

The BloodRayne: Betrayal material is the most phoned-in I think I've ever heard Virt sound. But then he went and did Mighty Switch Force, his best work, so that sort of balances it out. I guess it'd have a chance to be interesting if he sought to avoid the stylistic typecasting of endless pipe organ arpeggios in a symphonic rock mold in any hypothetical Castlevania project of his, but only then.

Sakimoto is a good choice. The man is nothing but class. Some other prime candidates: Masashi Hamauzu, Yousuke Yasui, Shinji Hosoe, Masafumi Takada, Kow Otani, Kenji Ito, Takayuki Aihara, etc. I realize some of these folks aren't representative of what necessary strikes as immediately "Castlevania", but I'd rather there was branching out for new, experimental things instead of letting the status quo trod along. I'm sick to my stomach of Judgments and Harmony of Despairs.

Past composers who are still active in the industry that I'd like to have for another round: Sota Fujimori, Yasuhiro Ichihashi. Soshiro Hokkai, you were too good for this world.

I was mainly referring to the chiptune versions of Bloodrayne Betrayal. They're excellent, especially stage 1. Jake makes music that sounds more Castlevania than, say, the entire Order of Ecclesia OST.

Nice!  I don't know that I think of Castlevania when I hear him, but it would be interesting.

Same here.  Araujo's music to pretty good, but as we saw in LoS, it doesn't really fit CV.  It's more of what you would expect from a Hollywood Blockbuster Movie.  Yamane's music is one of those composers we associate with CV music and her music is great.  I can only imagine what would happen if she composed the music and he handled the orchestration.  It would be transcendent.  Or...it could be a pile of shit.  My money is on it transcendent though.
