A few Castlevania sprites I made
« on: December 13, 2007, 04:46:24 PM »

So, after getting bored, my Castlevania fan-personality held me hostage with a Vampire Killer and made me sprite these:

This is Richter Belmont, as I imagined him, in an 8-bit Castlevania style.

Another Richter, this time edited from Dracula X into his Dracula X Chronicles gear.  Not as good as I wanted it to be, but there's a lotta detail to put there!

So I decided to give a shot at Richter with his SotN wear.  Didn't come out as good as I'd hoped.

A more satisfying SotN Richter attempt, and the last sprite here.  The sprite I made is on the left, the original I edited off of on the Right.  The one on the right also comes from Saturn NitM.

So, comments anyone?

The first edit is probably the best 8-bit Richter edit I've ever seen.

2nd edit looks awesome...really detailed, really accurate.

3rd edit..I dunno..something about it looks bad, like hes too chunky perhaps.

And as for the last edit, nothing special but pretty well done.

I agree fully, that 8-bit Richter must be the best one so far. 2nd one looks sweet as well, love the details. Now the 3rd one I'm not sure either.. Looks almost like '80s Meatloaf trapped in a CV game lol. :) The 4th was real nice too. Good job!

8-bit Richter looks like he has a really big shlong.

The third one looks kinda like a Haunted Castle version of Richter, y'know, like a big hulking monster.  ;D

I edited my second SotN Richter sprite, I think he looks a bit more accurate now:

To get more accuracy you should perhaps use the original sotn sprite to resize him back to sotn proportions by overlaying it on top of it and moving the pixels until their proportions match perfectly, right now he's too wide since he's from the pre-stretched saturn.

Also his hair should be brown, not blue. I never understood why the hell did they make his hair blue in rondo, while they could have used one of his boot colors or even the black color from the underside of the clothes for it.

You know, I feel that Richters blue-ish hair in rondo is what mkes him so Richter. It just wouldn't be the same if his hair was brown.

I always thought the programmers were aiming for black. (for the sprite) :?

Actually, it looks like they were aiming for black with blue-ish shines to it, but it didn't come out that way.

I could do that, but a friend of mine tried doing that with the Saturn Richter sprites.  Long story short they came out horrible-looking even though he managed to stretch them back to normal size.

Yeah, because that Richter was first resized, then edited to have the new outfit. I assume your friend didn't edit the sprites once he resized them, they obviously will look bad if you just resize them.

while it is a bit out of shape, this is a very good quality sprite.
