Evo 2 DX

I don't think a lot of people will be into this console right now since its one of the unknowns. I myself bought one.

http://www.envizionsinc.com/evo2dx.html

Mostly because I like the idea of supporting small time developers. Its really good to see things changing where someone can become a game developer without jumping through hoops. I always seem to root for the underdog when it comes to game consoles. I just happen to like this idea.

The console I'm getting is the one with blu ray, Instead of a Windows Operating System I requested a Linux Operating System. Supposedly, there is even going to be multiplayer on the console.

Seeing as how I pretty much spent $709.00 on it (with shipping and handling) I wanted to know exactly what I was getting into. So I asked a few questions:

#1 - Is there any way to get the system without Windows 7 installed onto it or is it hard coded into the system? I'm more or less known to be an Lubuntu user and this is what I'm currently using on my home PC.

#2 - Does this product come with any type of an extended warranty?

#3 - How is the online and multiplayer support regarding the system, features, etc.? If it is not too great right now will it be in the future.

#4 - Are there going to be any stand alone games for Evo 2 DX besides Android games?

Here were the answers I got:

1.We can't ship it without a OS, but we can install a Linux OS that you can remove for your desired choice. Please confirm in an email to evoorder@envizionsinc.com that you want a Linux OS instead of a Windows 7 OS. The Linux version will not support our Android app to connect the mini tablet and will not have the new EVO interface 100% backgrounds. We were in the mist of pulling your unit together so please let us know how to proceed.

2. Not at this time but the system does have a 1 year standard warranty. We always do our best to fix any issues hardware or software related.

 3. Not at this time but we promise a "BIG" update that will make the Xbox 3 and PS4 look like child’s play. It will be unveiled at www.engeniux.com very soon. The new platform is a  game changer. It will be a massive update across all our platforms. So if you decide to get Linux on your DX our new “software/platform” will  up support Linux since it will be designed with Linux. . Sorry for being so lite on details but this new software is very tight lip secret around Envizions.

   4. And, yes, there will be new games and you want believe how we provide new games…it’s going to be insane. We wanted to take a new approach with the EVO platform so when we release the new update you will receive a free update for the EVO 2 DX.

I'm fairly happy with the purchase. If nothing else its a Blu Ray DVD Player and has PC elements to it. I could always use it as a spare. However, I'm really hoping this thing actually does succeed.

Somewhat interesting, but there's no way I'd ever pay that much.

Well it depends on what model you get. I got the deluxe model with the Blu Ray and all stuff in it. The regular model is about $130.00.

$15.00 for a preorder
