Team Castlevania.

With the way things are going one must think is there even a Team Castlevania at Konami anymore?

Hell does Konami even make their own games anymore outside of Kojipro!?

Indeed that is how they seem to do things these days. And it shouldn't be like that.

I wanted Wayforward to make Castlevania 5 ever since I played Contra 4. They would do a fantastic job, and I would love to see new original sprites by them.

THIS
I guess that all IGA haters are rejoicing now. Have fun with your fancy Belmont Dracula and rat stealth.

Ubisoft motherfuckin' Montreal.

Nuff said.

(For those uninformed, they made the Sands-of-Time-and-Onward Prince of Persia games and the Assassin's Creed series. <---Those being their most popular titles)

Wayforward (2D)
Vannillaware (with level design done by someone else, all of their level designs were boring). (2D)
From Software (3D)
Konami internal team

These are the ones I want to see.

I really don't know who should take over the series next.  After playing through The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, I personally would like to see what Bethesda Game Studios would do with Castlevania.

Regarding From Software (Demon Souls/Dark Souls), I'm not sure.  From what I've seen, their games are excessive hard and unforgiving.  Plus, I heard that if you die once, you have to start all over from the beginning.  That being said, they could really nail the atmosphere.

You heard wrong.

Also, Castlevania was hard. I hope to see that difficult back someday.

"The team behind the latest Castlevania titles has voiced concern over being bogged down by too much Castlevania. Mercury Steam, who has worked on both Mirror of Fate and Lords of Shadow 2, hopes to move into new territory to avoid being known as 'The Castlevania Team.' "

Am I the only one who finds this incredible off-putting? It's a real turn-off to speak of the series like it's a burden, and that they simply just wanna get it over with. It's especially annoying to hear developers saying things like that when they've got TWO new games coming out. Talk about killing the hype  >:(

It's like: "Yeah, we're working on these games but you should know that we're soooo over this and we're only doing it cause Konami told us to."

Yeah, that does sound off-putting. If they wanted to take a break from Castlevania, they could've worded it better.

As for the actual topic, I'm all for a good development team as long as they bring the Castlevania look and feel back.

It's not off putting at all. They want to move on because they didn't plan their story as far ahead as you guys hope they did. I'm glad they're being responsible and giving us a hopefully satisfying and intended ending to their lore, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be happy to see someone else take over and possibly bring Castlevania back to what it once was, or something new and more enjoyable.

I am pretty worried about Contra though, I hope they don't turn it into a cover based shooter or your typical shooter for that matter. Contra was more than that.

Man.. If Form Software were to make a Castlevania game, that would be so amazing.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow sucks

I don't think Konami has any one competent to work on their own series in house anymore besides kojipro which is really sad.

Which has me asking where did all that talent go?

I asume they would make something like Hard Corps Uprising (terribly lame) but using generic music and the main boss would be something like Che Guevara from a weird conspiracy who cloned him using Alien cells

From Software has done games of varying difficulty. Again, they would be making a Castlevania game, not a new Souls game. People need to look past details like the difficulty or the medieval setting. Instead, see the bigger picture and recognize the overall structure and atmosphere of the Souls games. Remember that WayForward made games like Spongebob Squarepants before making Contra 4. I think that's waaay more far-fetched than From Software making Castlevania.

As for Contra, I don't want it to be a Gears-clone either. At the same time, I'm glad someone wants to make a new game at all. Talk about a series in decline. At least Castlevania gets new games on a very regular basis, even more so than Metal Gear, which is arguably Konami's pride and joy. Contra, Gradius, Suikoden, Goemon however.... :(
