Since they did the disrespect of announcing a US Wiiware version and made various people wait almost a year only to cancel it I will enjoy downloading this game in torrent.
Also I have a random question, they've already launched Phoenix Wright vs. Professor Layton for 3DS? I remembered that game now because I've seen both trailers in the same week lol
That wasn't the developers, it was the publisher that made the announcement and then backed out. If you want to retaliate against them find out who the publisher was going to be and download something they did put out.
Why the hell would you pirate an indie game?
Not that pirating software is ever really justified, however, I can kind of understand wanting to grab a pirate copy of say an EA or Ubisoft game, to get a copy without their ridiculous DRM for example, but why an indie game??
Indies work extra hard and put their lively-hoods on the line to make games like this. They have a passion and love for the craft that is nearly unrivaled in some cases, and aren't investors looking for the billion dollar profit margin to buy themselves a new house and yacht for all the seasons. They are filling genres the big companies don't care to, and providing the fans with the things they have longed for. They are gamers and fans as much as developers, and they deserve all the fair treatment they can get. They are your friends, more than any publisher ever will be.
Pirating an indie game is spitting in the face of retro gaming. It's like stealing from a damned charity. They don't ask much most of the time. $10, $15, $20 at most. They aren't charging you $60 and withholding half the game as DLC.
There is no excuse, seriously.
A) I'm a pirate and have the ren fair pics to prove it.
B) Pirating technically involves stealing someone's product and selling it as your own, so technically I'd be stealing it.
C) Only the windows version is indie as a technicality of the initial wiiware publisher bailing and the developers thinking they were not going to be able to get a NA/EU wiiware release. The wiiware version is not indie at all and the developers are reaping the advantages of having a publisher for it in all regions.
D) As far as I am aware Nigoro, the developer, does not normally produce games independently.
So, as far as I'm aware, Nigoro isn't an indie game developer and La-Mulana is only indie through technicality. Additionally, as an indie developer myself, I decided a long time ago not to copy protect anything I publish on my own. After all having been relatively poor growing up and discovering the internet I've gotten my hands on everything I ever wanted for free for many years.
