Contrary to a faulty previous report*, the Neo Geo Handheld will come packaged with a neo geo console for $200 as linked below by Sonic_Reaper. I still think that's a little on the ridiculous side personally. Since a lot of these games have been emulated just fine on PS2 compilations and if they're built into the system they are still being emulated. But it's not as crazy to pay $100 apiece for a clone Neo Geo and a handheld system clone.

Even as a retro gamer the Neo Geo has always struck me as excessive, I love games but $100 or so for a cartridge? No thanks, I'll just be over here with the PS2 compilation that costs $7 for half the games in the series. In any event, thanks for clearing that up Reaper!

I thought this came with the console itself, too.  Shoryuken is reporting otherwise:

Yup, it does.  Pretty shoddy journalism Plugged-in.  That price tag is pretty decent actually, for both the console AND the handheld, as well as the joystick and pre-loaded games.

This is my chance not only does this come with a handheld, but a console, and a joystick that I so want, at a affordable price tag I have to get some money to preorder this hell the price alone is cheaper than the one at game dude last I checked it as 299.99 and that's without the joystick. Happy days the arcade experience at home and yeah this is for collectors. I always wanted neo-geo but I never got lucky, but for 200 you are getting three items that easily can make someone break a leg yeah just for the console it's self. But I still have to think about it. I looked at the site and then gold x is 199.99 and the handheld is 129.99 my question is does the gold x play the cartridge games what was it AVS I believe, I hope so if not then I may have to pass on this which I really do not want to yeah it's abit expensive, but then again three items for 200.00 not a bad deal to me just has to play the carts then I am good, but then again I have to see if I can even get this.

Neat. If it becomes reasonably hackable I might just get it.

yeah if the handheld proves to be pretty hackable it could be a big deal for portable emulation
