If I wasn't jobless at the moment and running close on bills I'd pick up some of these E-shop games
The game is horrible and suffers from outright bad engine, which causes a lot of slowdown and horrible controls. While the level design is good, it is hard to appreciate it. Overall the game could have been good, if engine and controls were fixed, but as of now - it's one of the worst titles in the classic lineup of the series. You will need a lot of strategy in this game, but only because its horribly coded. Belmont's Revenge on contrary - is an examplary work of how you use good ideas from a horrible title and make an awesome game.
Adventure over Legends, in my opinion. I can't even really think of any good ideas Legends had... maybe mini-boss fights? Other than that, I thought the over-bloated stages really brought the game down. The stages are very long, and their design isn't near inspiring enough to justify their great length. So I guess the main culprit to me is just really uninspired design. The enemy regeneration can be a pain, too. Like the other two GB games it has a nice soundtrack, though.
