Not the same. I said cloudesque as in similar, not exact alike. Learn to read. ;)
At least cloud was kinda cool. Can't say that about that generic pathetic excuse of a hero jonafag is.

Also in sotn most of the weapons had something cool about them. A nice effect going off, an unique special attack and such.

Starting from aos all of the weapons started just being the same thing as previous weapon of the same class, only with a minor sprite difference and stat change.

Then dos added more of those and pork carbon copied most of dos's weapons and added few more. Their special moves are almost all generic and similar (character dashes forward while attacking), they have next to no cool effects on them etc.

Actually, SOTN had a bunch of re-used weapon sprites. The Cross Sword had the same blue flash the Alucard and Alucart swords had, the Luminus and the Sword of Hador had the same white flash, etc. etc. etc.

That said, I do agree with you in that recent CVs just haven't had the same inspired variety of equipment SoTN had. I spent hours GRINDAN to get every last item and weapon drop in SoTN because they had so many nifty effects, like the Shield Rod/Mablung Sword's special shield combos or nifty effects like the Pentagram/Bat Pentagram/Power of Sire. They REALLY need to bring those kinds of little things back...;_;

that's the norm, those who think PoR raped their baby find every possible stupid thing to complain about, or focus on a flaw that was Much Worse in other games. (i.e, anime being much worse in DoS yet PoR's gets all the acid)

Funny. When people bash other games (the n64 games, adventure, hod, cotm or legends) there aren't so many whiners as here who try to prove the others are idiots because they don't like their favorite without even giving any proof or counter-argument other than 'you suck'.

Could it be because this game is just new and the whining comes from the demographics that game was made for, as in kids who think the world revolves around them? :o

I wouldn't mind if the next DS game is in 1897.

I'm not sure if Iga is planning, or even allowed to officially alter the original Dracula story and call it Castlevania and something of his creation.

Didn't they alter the original Dracula story anyways? Bloodlines had something about how John Morris "watched in the shadows when his father Quincy killed Dracula" or something, which I'm fairly certain didn't appear in Stoker's original novel...did it? ?_?

How do you know what IGA is thinking? It's a firm possibility that he'll use Quincy Morris sometime.

Eh, just wishful thinking, I suppose, I just don't want a game based off that story, it's fine how it is.

That's like saying we don't need a game based in the 300 year period between 1094 & 1476 since we already know the Belmonts kill all the monsters anyway. Also, 1897 is the year when Dracula would be at full power until '99.

Your logic is questionable.

I would like to see a new character with a new story and even with new battle system and game play mechanism.

If this character going to be a Belmont that we don't know or Quincy Morris it doesn't matters. Not even the time that this game will be as long is going to be something really knew and not the continue of a previous one or have conection with a previous game.

The series need to get away from previous games if they want to survive!!

There is no John Morris in Stoker's novel. Quincy didn't have any kids. After Quincy and Jonathan Harker simultaniously killed dracula (Knife to the heart and decapitation) Quincy died from a knife wound. The last page happend years later when Van Hellsing had Quincy Harker on his lap and was talking to him.
Basically Castlevania is NOTHING like Stoker's novel. There are some similar names but I think it is insulting to Stoker to say that they are alike. If you keep them seperate then it doesn't seem like they perverted his vision for the story.
-----------------------------------------------
Nowadays you are either a graphics whore or a fanboy. BR is Shank not CV. It is ridiculous to think that it is better than CV. If it was CV then it would be what RE4 is to Resi, a series killer. Dumb it down and make it look pretty. Enough idiots will buy it.

I just think that they need to return to the classic art from SOTN and before, let's face it anime is ok but it doesn't fit Castlevania. Also the reason most of the later games aren't as good is basicly because everything needs to be bigger and more spectacular, why not a simple belmont with a whip and some sub weapons instead of an entire arsenal of spells? what happend to old school vampire whipping?

It became obsolete. I still love it, but it's way too simple for today's world. I like all the special, new attacks and abilities as long as they make sense, and are not childish or funny in anyway. I don't like comedy in a gothic video game.
