But you're right, trusting a movie maker's thoughts on games and what gaming needs is like asking a horse breeder his opinions on jet engine repair.

Spielberg did supposedly design Boom Blox, and that game is bangin'.

Unless the Gamestop app on my phone is a dirty, lying sonofabitch, then the XBOX ONE (-way ticket to social pariah status) bundles with either Call of Duty or Battlefield 4 are among their best sellers...oh, the humanity. Seriously humanity, what's up with that? I thought you were better than this.

All I can say for this "next" gen stuff so far is ............YAWN.  Nintendo has completely disappointed me by building a shiny new console to compete with LAST gen consoles.  Sony still hasn't done anything to make the Playstation brand stand out or unique.  And MS seems fairly hell bent on making a lot of gamers NOT want their new console.  Not to mention that there hasn't been really any next gen titles announced thus far that even remotely interest me (outside of Forza 5).  All the games I'm currently awaiting are coming to PS3 and 360 (GTA5, AC4, GT6, World of Tanks)...so it looks like I will be sitting out the "next gen" mess for the foreseeable future.

Can't say that this is any different than previous console generation turnovers, though.  With the exception of the N64, there hasn't been a single console I've ever bought during the first year of its release.  I'm in it for the games, not the machines that play them. As far as all the juvenile console fanboy nonsense going on on the net currently.......color me disgusted.  Nothing I hate more than gamers that throw all loyalty behind a console rather than behind the games they play.  None of these big companies deserve that kind of loyalty (unless you're on the take).  All these "next gen" consoles have things I'm not sold on or that I'm not completely happy with.  That being said, when the next generation of games begin to show up for these machines I will do what I always have done.......I'll go where the games I want to play are.  I stopped with the fanboy nonsense when the Nintendo vs Sega rivalry came to an end (the last GREAT console rivalry IMO).

No entity should have that kind of loyalty. That sort of fanaticism is dangerous.

That said, I'm quite happy with my Wii U. It has fun games, all my Wii hacking fuckery works on it, and the tablet controller (I refuse to call it a game pad, the SNES had a game pad) work like a universal remote.

The ONLY system I have EVER bought  for myself in the first year new is the Wii U. Can't say I see that happening with Sony or MS.

Ahh yes that game. Never played it but heard it was good. Wonder how much actual input he had on it though, or if his contributions were exaggerated for branding purposes like with Tiny Toons*/Animaniacs/Freakazoid.

*Though iirc he had the significant contribution in this one of convincing the studio to make the characters students rather than literal descendants or baby versions of the original iconic Loony Tunes.

Boom Blox is awesome.
Boom Blox: Bash Party is also awesome but not too much changed.

Now they're actually going and hiring people to go online and say good things about them.

This is exactly the same shit the big oil companies do whenever they feel the heat from environmentalists demanding either cleaner products or replacement products. They buy up as many scientists as they can in order to create a false report to sway public opinion and make themselves look good.

I've been saying it for years now, that you play the system for the games. Not the system. you can't play a console as it is nothing more then an interactive tool used to play games. Nothing more. Yet many people out there still fail to realize that simple truth so the raise a stink about how said system is better then the other said system without any knowledge about what they're arguing about. I've played nearly every game console and all have there good and bad points, but in the end I play them for the games because I love the games that were made for the system. I can't even begin to tell you how many arguments and conflicts I've heard and seen due to the fanaticism over a console rather then the games themselves :P

If Konami announced that the next hi-res 2D Castlevania game was gonna be an XBox One exclusive...

WOULD YOU BUY IT?

Castlevania or no Castlevania, my stance towards M$ remains the same:
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.
^^
You are now reading this in Robert Belgrade's voice.

Absolutely not! It would be a dick move on konami's part to even consider making a CV game that's XBOX 180 exclusive.
