Well, it's not that there is no Grant, it's that he's not important like the rest of the cast and he probably won't show up until after the first film. As long as he's got a cameo of some sort I'm happy.
I also think Grant was just put into CVIII to make it easier

I like this art. I hope they go with something similar in the end but every time I imagine what it's going to look like I think of the Spawn animated series, which I like.

I never played CVIII, but I hope they take Grant out, as well as put SotN-like Alucard in there. I have no complants on Trevor or Belnades.

Why? The story's supposed to follow the canon, and Grant's canon. A major part of the story was that after helping Trevor fight and destroy Dracula, Grant returned to the village at the beginning of the game and helped to rebuild it and restore it to its former glory.

Ellis has already said Grant's prolly gonna take a backseat as far as main characters go, but he's gonna be in it.

Grant being a pirate was a Konami USA invention, just like the 'spirit forms' and Poltergeist King. Grant's supposed to be a freedom fighter.

Yeah Dracula killed his family and destroyed his village. He's fighting the oppression that Dracula's placing on the land. Sypha was hired by the church to fight Dracula but failed after being turned to stone.
