Nagumo gave me the idea  ;)
And I have no problem on admitting.
Granted, it's the lowest point in the Iga dinasty, but that's not saying much to me, because I pretty much loved everything he (and his teams) did.
Granted, also, the recycled sprites don't look well in a high definition platform.
It doesn't have a story, yes. But it doesn't need to.
The important thing here is that I got to see a sort of "Greatest Iga Hits Remixed" kind of game, right in the middle of the LoS trilogy (because I played it on PS3, and it wasn't until a couple months ago that I could get all the extra content, including stages, characters and soundtrack... extra content that happens to be the best content of the game, in terms of music, characters and fan service levels).
It was, and it still is, a great way to ease my patience and wait until I can know what the future of Castlevania is.
Anyone can say anything about this game, I won't argue that bit is mediocre, but so what? If I like it, I don't really care about that. It's always a good and fun time for me, and after a day of work, having at least 1 hour before sleeping with this is always great. I get to be Charlotte, Maria, Shanoa... I get to play SotN, CV1, Getsu Fuuma, the NDS levels mixed up, Egypt... I get to listen to an awesome soundtrack... and I can customize everything!  :)
So... yeah... I actually really like Harmony of Despair!  :)
Now I'm tired, eternally walking... forever dying, and never stopping. I feel in sorrow, all I see is white. I’m following a blind way beneath a sad sky.

You and Affinity would make great pals.
I own the game... but I'm not fond of it.  I got it so I can give it a fair college try when it came out on PS3, but it's just not that fun for me to go through it.

That's putting it lightly.

You presented your opinion in a humble manner though, so I won't rail you like Affinity.

Anyone who wants to play HOD online on PS3 should send me a friend request. It's a fun game when you have a good group to play with!

I would love to play but I only got it on x-360 and I will not pay M$ anything anymore. online nada but I do have friends on there so but not so a couple months won't kill me...

But I'll say this, I do not play for grinding or weapon collecting I just whip the undead hell out of things. People questioned why I even play this in the first place my answer :Simon Belmont done. also I forgot the level up glitch in vs. but hey I might buy it again just to play with you guys but not the whole thing just simon and ch 10 maybe richter and fuma.

Sadly, I can't play online.
That's one disadvantage of having a PS3 with jailbreak.

Weirdly enough I actually keep meaning to get this game, even though I know it's a hopelessly cheap effort. Still, it just looks like a nice weekend time killer. Since I have an x-boxxu, if i ever get it I'll probably message you, Neobelmont-sama, so you can chortle at my awful effort at dual-play.

I thought it looked a little dumb when it first came out but once I bought it I thought differently. It's simple and mindless so it's an easy pick up game. I just wish everyone online didn't only use Soma. Overall I enjoy it.

Yeah, the only problem I see with this game aside from the blatant content recycling is the glaring lack of balance between characters. Overall it's okay if you have some good friends to play it with. I just wish the gameplay was faster paced so the hard rock/heavy metal-oriented soundtrack fits perfectly.
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.
^^
You are now reading this in Robert Belgrade's voice.

Then Lords of Shadow 2 just takes a big, semi-solid, smelly, pea-green dump all over everything.

I love Harmony of Despair.  It's probably my favorite game of this generation.  I recently lost all of my PS3 data, so I picked up a new one and I've been re-playing HoD instead of the wealth of other PS3 games I have.

Of course it's not a perfect game, and obviously it's 95% recycled content.  But the people who make that argument miss out on the fact that the entire concept of the game - playing CV with others online - is new to the series.  There's quite a bit of rare equipment to get that will keep you busy for some time.  And once you get that equipment, it keeps the game fresh while you seek out other new rare items.  There was a good deal of DLC and enough customizable features to keep everything fresh, even though it's just a grindfest at heart.

The game is a little slow to get into.  It doesn't really pick up until about 5+ hours in when you've got enough equipment to hold your own.  I wonder how many of those who hate the game played it enough to really see what it's all about?

Ummm hello where have all of u guys been the past 9000 hrs I spent on this game? Grab a whip and let's do the damn thing! It really isn't bad as long as there aren't a team of 6 Somas chopping up everything while rushing to the boss. Unfortunately all my friends aren't very chatty because of the language barrier but It won't stop them from inviting. Now go download this and I'll be waiting for you all

The only problem is I do not have gold and I kind of don't want to pay Microsoft but  playing hod with a dungeon member might be enough . Also if your into fighters it'll be a match made.

I never use soma or alucard it's the main reason why I have not gotten all the achievements in the game. I'm a Belmont I whip stuff done.  ;D

I have it on xbox, and while initially it was kinda fun despite the blatant recycle fest, it gradually become more and more boring and repetitive for me.

And stupid character balancing issue only further added to me eventual distaste for the game, Soma being to freaken overpowered and getting to keep his soul system from DOS while Alucard for instance has most of his more powerful abilities and weapons from SOTN taken away from him or severely toned down like the mist form and soul steal for instance.

The mist I can understand since it would make him unkillable in most instances, but why does the soul steal have to be so weak and only give very VERY little heath?

Good man. I've only used Belmont characters and don't plan on changing that.
