Mario and Luigi are gay

"That was the original intention of the game. It was a game charged with the signs of gay culture, and Luigi and Mario were a gay couple trying to face a society that rejects them. Further, when we introduced the game for a western audience, we changed some concepts, but if you observe carefully, many of the original concepts are present. The goombas and the flags at the end of each level are symbolic male reproduction organs.
The princess isn't real, it is an allegory to the traditional female ways, which is similar to homosexuality, and in the game, the lovers go on a constant quest for castles, to finally learn that gay identity goes beyond looking as a woman. The plumbing is another nod to gay culture, and Koopa represents the over masculinity, the macho man and the intolerance, and that's why Mario and Luigi must defeat him" (Shigeru Miyamoto).

Yeah... I'm not making this up, I just read it  :o

I don't believe this for an instant and neither should anyone else.

I wouldn't believe it either, but it's everywhere on the news.

Pfil, its not wrong with them being gay, but it sounds very fake, to begin with they are brothers and they dont mentioned this in the news. Also sources are welcome (and chainsawmidget already found news that tell its a hoax).

Anyway, good joke xD

Sources are all in spanish, and I couldn't find one in english. That's why I translated the part of it that quotes the creator.
A Google search with "Mario Luigi gay" should give plenty of results.
Of course there's nothing wrong with them being gay, I would welcome a game with gay characters, especially women.
It would be a very brave thing to do from the developers.

IIRC correctly they started airing a year ago a animated series with a super hero boy that crossdress as a girl (with pink dress and a part of his hair being pink too). But I've never seen it. Maybe it can interest you and if you find something, please share lol

Ohhh, now I get it! My brother tells me it's Zombie! We call it "Zombie".
I mean, "Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka", which has a 2nd season too, called "Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka Of The Dead".
Great series, very funny and lots of ecchi situations, give it a go if you are into that  ;)

I think Mario being a communist is more plausible.

On a side note, it's funny how pink got turned into a girly/gay color. It wasn't always like that.

While this is a hoax it is true that the Mario series, by way of Doki Doki Panic! does have what is likely the first transgender character in video games. Namely Birdo, it's a shame but not at all a surprise that this was done as a "joke". Though interestingly since then she has been officially paired with Yoshi at least once or twice, they make a cute couple! In recent years in the west Nintendo has tried to obfuscate Birdo's gender identity/status as a trans woman, presumably in the interests of not attracting attention or controversy from the likes of putrid talk radio or paranoid pulpits.

Ohhh, now I get it! My brother tells me it's Zombie! We call it "Zombie".

This is Lely?

Yeah everyone assumes that association is much older than it is, it really dates back to less than a century ago with the birth of marketing and marketing research. It was also not uncommon for dresses to be a unisex clothing for young children until around the same time.
