To be fair, compared to modern PC sourceports every other way of playing DOOM is terrible.
The original PlayStation versions hold up because of the dark ambient music. I much prefer to play
DOOM that way because it makes it really unsettling.
And then there's
DOOM 64 which is my favorite in the series, but that's an original title so eh.
Also, any of the Dragon's Lair games. Any port. I love the fuck out of that game.
You consider
Dragon's Lair a bad or mediocre game? I think it's pretty badass. I have the Wii
Dragon's Lair Trilogy which far as I can tell runs the games really smoothly. The only thing I dislike about the game is that when playing on a widescreen TV, it crops the top and bottom of the image. This can be avoided, but you have to go to the Wii settings and set it to 4:3, and then use your TV's view option to squish the wide image to its proper 4:3 frame. It's a bit of a hassle, but since it allows me to play the games in their original aspect ratio, I'll do it—but the game really should have allowed you to choose 16:9 or 4:3 in the options menu.
