They had a collection.
It was for PC.

You can buy it here!

So if they REALLY WANTED TO, they could port that version for a service like Steam.
But they won't.

Incredible. I never realized the CV trilogy had a PC edition. And there's Contra along with it? I need to find it.
And LOL for the prices.

Yes, but the fun part is that a new copy is CHEAPER than a used one haha

Wonder if it works on modern PCs without any finagling or jury-rigging. I think it was released during the Windows 2000 or XP era.

You too?! LOL
Im using Windows XP and I dont plan to use Windows 7 in a near future, unless really needed. I've started using XP only when a lot of programs werent supported by 98 anymore.

A funny thing is that I've noticed in the Mighty No. 9 trailer that they were using XP in one of their PCs too.

I dual-boot between WinXP and Win7.

WinXP has most of my composing programs and has everything all nice and set up.  Plus it has my programs for my work.  Lots of legacy programs, too.
Win7 is 64bit so a lot of programs benefit from the extra RAM usage (I have 8GB).  Minecraft runs better on Win7.  Win7 is also the only way I can play Bioshock Infinite, as it won't run on XP.

I mean I don't think it would be much of a loss not to see loads of Castlevania games come out specifically on PC beyond what's already there. I think moreso when it comes to the PC people can always be inspired by Castlevania and make loads of tribute games and games that hold the same spirit. For example you don't see any Megaman games on PC specifically made by Capcom. (Megaman 1 and Megaman 3 PC don't count) You do however have Megaman Unlimited which is a great game in its own right. So I mean I don't think its a matter of that anyone is missing out.

Well, Konami is Developing more for the PC, MGR was supposed to be on PC eventually and there are MGS5 PC Dev applications, on top of that the LoS Saga will soon be on PC...
I bet they are looking into Sales before making a move...
This. Kojima is the last sane person on Konami Japan and he has been trying to embrace the PC for a while now; MGR will be their test game. Dave Cox and MercurySteam brought the LoS series to PC and I believe the first one did pretty well. Keep in mind that Konami Europe works very differently than the Japanese counterpart though, and since Castlevania is being overseen by Euro Konami is up to them now to call re-releases and all that stuff.

Since Dave Cox seems to dislike Iga's work but not the Classicvanias, we might be able to get that compilation of the first 3 games on GOG.com if we're extremely lucky. I guess it's time for a petition?

They had a collection.

Konami Collector's Series: Castlevania & Contra
From youtube impressions, the collection appears extremely rough: the UI looks out of a chinese rom hack. Steam wouldn't allow something like that on their system. However, GOG.com is more about preserving old games (like this one). I would definitely be in for releasing this there given that the store is also 100% DRM-free!

Does that even count? Three games out of a plethora (basically, all the 2D games can be bundled with an emulator and work flawlessly on any PC) on an obscure collection nobody knows about? Now if they brought the Classicvanias and IGAvanias to Steam, that would be sweet.
Or just Classicvanias and SoTN. The rest I don't care about.

Seriously guys? If Konami doesn't care enough to put out a decent collection, just download the roms already. What the actual fuck? Maybe it's just because I've owned hard copies of all these games, but it's a blessing to be able to have them all on one machine (a PC.)

Konami will NEVER, and I repeat, NEVER put out any of the older games that weren't hits. You can get CV1, CV4, Rondo, SoTN, Chronicles on VC or PSN or whatever, but outside of those 5, good luck. Bite the bullet and download them or waste your money hunting down the consoles they were originally released on and the cartridges to go with them. In which case, you're a sucker if you spend that money on all that. And this is from a guy who owned all that shit when it came out. You're lucky you can download all that stuff for free. Take advantage of it. Dayum...  :P
