One of the lulziest games ever is available again, officially licensed from Wisdom Tree (who still operate and even sell the PC version of the game on CD). Though when the original cart was an unlicensed game based on Wolfenstein 3D source code, one has to wonder just how much it being "officially licensed" matters.

40 bucks is a steep price (+$25 if you want the box and manual), but I'm tempted to get it, partly for the lulz, but also just because it's actually a super fun game. I mean, it IS Wolf3D after all, but it allows for circle strafing using the shoulder buttons, which is incredibly satisfying to do, and is missing from the SNES version of Wolf3D and even the PC original (thankfully rectified for XBLA).

My family used to own a few of those wonked-out Wisdom Tree NES games, and somehow I feel compelled to own part of that history again. Being a smartly-done repro cart, there's no more having to plug a licensed cart into the top of Noah3D Sonic & Knuckles style to get around the lockout chip, as it's a standalone cartridge now.

srsly tempted u gaiz, lewl

I remember hear about this game from the AVGN review about bible games, lol. But it doesn't make any sense. Why would Noah kill the animals on the ark when he was told to gather them prior to the flood? The people who did this game obviously didn't think of that. Me? I would have put in more effort. Rather then killing animals that you are suppose to save, instead have the ark infested with demons that you have to kill in order to save the animals, your family and the ark. There. I thought out a much better game then they did and it only took me two seconds and no money, lol.

He's actually slinging fruit to make them go to sleep, lol. I'm unsure whether he's feeding it to them and it makes them passive, or if he's knocking them out. Either way, they have little Zs over their heads.

And there's only like three different animals to encounter plus bosses. Not a wide variety of animals, and Noah really stockpiled on the goats.

I'm surprised Wisdom Tree is still around, this is a good move on their part because a lot of people are really curious about SNA3D. Personally I always get a good laugh out of religious games because they're usually pretty awful even by licensed standards. And sometimes there's great irony like when they made a Diablo clone for an anti-science Bibleman game. But nah not particularly interested in this. If you enjoy the Wolf3D playstyle you might want to check out Shadowcaster. It's a game John Carmack helped make with a modified Wolf3D Engine. It's an intermediary step between Wolf3D and Doom which is usually forgotten about, probably because it was published by Raven Software (the guys who later did Heretic and HeXen) rather than iD. Actually it has a few features that even the Doom engine didn't have!

lol, that's a bad idea when counting the David and Goliath aspect of the sling  :-X. To me it looked like he was killing goats cause of the splatter. I pity the goats that take the hit.

Well it's not really an FPS, I should have said "if you like Wolf3D" rather than Wolf3D's playstyle cause it plays a bit more like a dungeon crawl. Here's some gameplay for demonstration-

ShadowCaster - Gameplay

Lol the guys not very good at this game. I've had it for gosh 3 or 4 years but not played it much, though what I did play was fun. I remember that, hilariously, that beautiful sprite art from the opening was replaced with the most god awful ugly 3D models for the opening in the CD re-release.
