So much for stealth..

I recently finished Aliens colonial marines (torturous) and decided to play a stealth game, but one that has a lot of great reaction so since I beat the first one, I went and picked up splinter cell double agent. Wow. Just...ugh... I'm still on the first mission. I sneak up behind a guard and they IMMEDIATELY spin around as if to say "SURPRISE ASS-$&@?!!!  And gun me down. There's no sound meter. No light meter. What. The. HELL.... Now I could be wrong, but I'm thinking my copy is just buggy??? No clue. I watched a video walkthrough and they seemed to breeze through this stuff. I'm not the best stealth player but my god. I'm not THIS bad.

A better stealth game to play is the metal gear solid series. At least Kojima has the formula down pat.

That's true. At least when you sneak up behind them they aren't genetically mutated to have eyes set in the back of their head.

My first stealth game was Batman Begins, for PS2. I love the stealth gameplay, it was simple for me. Then I play Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and I pass the same that you with Double Agent :P. I prefer a simple stealth mechanic than a realistic one.

I know that maybe is not a true stealth saga, but you must try the Sly Cooper saga. It´s cartoonish, yes, but is completely enjoyable, for me. Also, you can try the 007 games. Not perfect games, but they have easy stealth gameplay, in my opinion...

There's also the Batman: Arkahm games. Batman does some interesting things when doing stealth beat-downs.

I absolutely love the Arkham series. It went hand in hand because I actually do really like stealth games and I'm a batman FREAK. XD Sly Cooper is a childhood favorite of mine. I think it's this series that got me into the stealth genre. The thing about double agent is it's WAY too realistic. I mean if I wanted to go and infiltrate terrorist colonies FOR REAL, I'd join the FBI. But this is a game, and as a game you're supposed to have a few advantages. Now I don't mind a challenge, (I'm actually a big fan if the onimisha and ninja gaiden series even though I suck at them XD) but COME ON... No light meter?! No sight meter?! Enemies have invisible eyes in the back of their heads where they can spot you sneaking up behind them AND supersonic hearing/sight?! What. The. Hell. Were they thinking? Were they even thinking at all??? Probably not in my opinion. I'm a pretty big fan when it comes to stealth games EVEN THOUGH I'm not the best at them. (I was stuck on Hitman contracts and blood money FOREVER) but COME ON. I beat the first splinter cell in give or take 2 weeks and Hitman absolution in about the same time or less. I'm currently playing ghost recon future solider and having a blast with the stealth parts in it. I tried dishonored but I'm not really that good at it. I'm trying to recover my gear last time I played. Only reason I suck is because I'm trying to not kill ANYONE to avoid the poop ending so everytime I'm caught I restart my check point which BLOWS. But I may go back and beat it.

Which version? The PC/360/PS3 version is actually the weakest, while the PS2/Xbox version is better. Are you running the entire time? If so, that will alert the guards. It's not like Metal Gear Solid 1, where you can power-sprint past guards with them just shrugging it off.

Splinter Cell is meant to be a little more realistic, so you need to take your time and slowly creep around guards, sticking to the shadows. Chaos Theory would probably be up your alley, since it's a little more forgiving (and usually counted as the SotN of the Splinter Cell games) without being casual.

The first Splinter Cell may kill you. That one is much like a chess game, since you'll be standing in one spot for a bit to analyze the situation before making a move. But goodness do I love that game.
