Yup PC engine all the way (###$!@#! community booted me, in my moment of weakness ), I have it complete, and I did not mind paying the expensive price. If you want to experience the game for what it is, you have to own the original. That is how things are. In today's world
0.25 = 1.00
Also considering how expensive games were in Japan, during their inflation periods.
about $60. Same price as a 2 hour AAA game made today
The virtual console, is a terrible port of the game, some things have been altered, and the sound is also different. While I do own the actual game, the game all over the internet like crazy, and one of those same copies was marketed as a "special edition", which was just a terrible fake reprint. I know this because I brought that one too, tested the disc, and compared the printing. Also with the virtual console you do not really own the game, just data on your Wii, if I am not mistaken.
Also you can't compare ROB, to current gen titles, at all. It was too good of a game, back then and is still too good of a game now. While this is opinion in all, ROB as well as the other Ritchet games are special, because that is the apex of all Castelvania games.
......
Another problem with porting to the PSX, is that the PSX suffers major points in graphics processing. In theory we could all say, it is a 3d console, and should have no problem in handling the game, but from what I have seen on the PSX, many of the games have a darker appearance, and many games uses 3d over 2d in many cases.
If a person wants something like COD and is not willing to get a PCE, or TCD, they should just pick up the PSP game. That in itself suffered terrible graphics, over haul, changes in the storyline that updates it to the current games, changes to the sprites ( which is obvious ) and even makes Maria a sorta bald tomboy, instead of the badarse B-ko Grey/Blue side.
So far their are four ways to get the game, and play with a control. Buy the original, buy the DL Wii game, buy the 3d PSP game, or just DL it, and figure out how to get it to run.
CV:ROB is priceless, I mean porting it to the PSX, is like when they ported Nights to the PS2, and when they remade Nights, as a new game for the Wii. The same should be said about Zelda:OOT, where everybody, literally brought and returned both the N64, after they finished the game.
