Blasphemy! It'll happen! You'll see! Right after the remake of Final Fantasy 7, and Chrono Trigger!

(Seriously remake Simon's Quest already though.)
Chrono Trigger doesn't need a remake since an updated re-release came out for the DS (I say re-release because there was already a release for Playstation a while back).
The DS version is the most complete. My nephew played the living shit out of that.
But yes, they do need to remake Simon's Quest. MetroidQuest's PC version is just too faithful of a version, down to exact locations.
I do agree that milking you for every version of a game is bad form on Nintendo's behalf.
The way it works right now is, if you own (bought) a VirtualConsole version of a game, you pay a very reduced (I think it's a dollar) price to upgrade to the Wii-U version, which gives you access to Miiverse in order to do social interaction regarding the game(s). For people who don't want to pay that dollar (could be a buck fifty), they can always play the Wii version they bought originally for free.
However, the way it SHOULD be should be like this:
-You bought a legitimate virtual console version of a game.
-You should, by cross-play nature, be allowed to play this game on Wii, Wii-U, and 3DS, all for one price, that price being what you originally paid for it.
They are indeed dropping the ball and do appear to be nickel-and-diming you by not having this feature. To be fair, PS4/Vita only recently got this feature... though I recall some blurbs online about such functionalities also being in the PS3/PSP, but I'm not sure.
...Nintendo people are trying to get there, though... that magical Apple-Like future where one purchase is playable in all devices...
