COD was a great game in its own rite, the issue is that the placement was extremely detached from the Castlevania Universe. When Devil Forgemasters who worked under Dracula were mentioned I thought "oh cool, they must have been bosses from CVIII..." erm sadly..... No.

The OST quality I concur is among the best in the series, certain tracks like Garibaldi temple evoke an coldness, isolation and eeriness, unseen in other games which could learn a thing or two from COD.

Saint Germain, come on, he's all class; the great historical figure and master of alchemy, would you expect any less than sophisticated and suave?

My only gripe about characters is Hector, he is forgettable, another Aluclone. Isaac is a much more memorable and distinctive character.
He's got balls though, he defeated Dracula.

I don't believe innocent devils were a bad idea at all, they make Sotn's familiars look like a$$ (aside from the sword)
Did anyone even bother to level them all the way up? THE END, that is all.

First mistake-
comparing CoD to LoI

CoD had a good concept, but didn't execute well enough imo. Id play LoI over that any day of the week

For a time traveler who was sworn not to interfere with time, the way he dressed was way out of place for 1479. It would violate just one of the many temporal regulations he's supposed to uphold. That's one of the reasons why I thought his character didn't work. If you're going to travel into the distant past then A) you need to look the part (important). And B) you need to act the part.

Hector is very much an Alucard clone yes, and I've always felt that he should not have fought Dracula as he is not a Belmont therefore it is not his job. Of course Trevor was "conveniently removed" and we never saw him again. That was bad storytelling right there. Issac was even more out of place then St. Germain and he was memorable all right; for all the wrong reasons  Issac's look made CoD feel like it was a borderline sausage fest. The voice acting was good, really good. But his look I felt was all wrong. Definitely out of place in 1479. And since CV is so very much based in real history with a few small exceptions I feel it's only natural that it retain that element. Unfortunately CoD I felt alienated from that element. As for the Devil forging aspect, to me it felt forced. It was never in CV III and thus CoD wasn't a smooth transition in that aspect. It would have been better if the game itself was not a sequel, but it's own entry into the series, with a plot set by Issac to revive Dracula using Devil forging.

Despite what other people say about the game, I enjoyed CoD and would very much like a PSN release for it as well. Months ago, I was wondering why LoI was only available since both games weren't that well-recieved, and personally I'd play and prefer CoD over that game anyway. Yeah, the corridors were repetitive and the story could've been executed better, but the music was great, the devil and weapon forging system were fun, combat wasn't spectacular but pretty solid, and the voice acting was great. Because I lack a PS2 yet own a copy of the game, I'd rather buy it again on PSN since I mostly play my PS3 anyway. Just my two cents.

LoI did pretty good, actually.

Edge gave it an 8/10, Eurogamer gave it a 7/10, GameInformer gave it an 8/10, GamePro gave it a 5/5, GameSpot gave it a 7.7/10, GameSpy gave it a 3/5, GameZone gave it a 9/10, IGN gave it a 9/10, and OPSM gave it a 4/5. The average score was approximately 8/10.

CoD didn't do as good, but still received some decent scores.

1UP gave it 7.5/10, GamePro 4/5, GameSpot 6.8/10, GameTrailers 7.9/10, GameZone 7.8/10, IGN 7.8/10, Play Magazine 9/10, TeamBox 7.6/10, X-Play 3/5, Games Hell 8.5/10, Hardcore Gamer 4.5/5, RPG Fan 82/100. The average score was approximately 7.8/10.

LoI actually had some pretty high scores across the board, with CoD having the "okay" scores. Still, Warriors Orochi managed to make an appearance as a PS2 Classic, and despite me loving that game, I know it received some pretty low scores across the board (hell, the only one listed on Wikipedia is OXM's 5.5/10).

You know GummiCandyfulk since you have a PS3 you can download off the PSN a PS2 emulator program that will let you play your PS2 games. If you have an older PS3 like mine it should already have the backwards compatibility built into it for PS2 and PSX games.

There's no such thing. If you're referring to the PS2 System thingy whatever, all that does is make it possible to play the PS2 games that required a hard drive to play. Even then, though, it doesn't work with any but the old fat model of the PS3, since the slim or the slim-slim models aren't compatible with PS2 games.

If there was no such thing I wouldn't have brought it up. But there obviously is since I saw it whilst scanning the PS network for some DLCs. So unless SONY removed it, it should be there to find. If you don't believe me then just give it a search. You never know.

The only thing that is on there for the PS2 is the "PS2 System Data". It's an app that states "This is system data for playing PlayStation 2 format software that must be installed on the hard disk of a PLAYSTATION 3 system." This is NOT an emulator for playing PlayStation 2 games. The only thing it does is allow people to play games that previously required the PS2's hard drive on the PS3 (i.e. Final Fantasy XI). As far as I know, this is the only PS2 thing that's ever been on the PSN. I even did some (quick) searching on the internet and there was no mention of a PS2 emulator ever being on the PSN.

Oh so that's what it was. Okay I get it now. Kinda a shame really. Lots of PS2 gamers could really benefit from a reverse-comparable emulator for their PS3s. I guess I was one of the lucky few that got the older model, let alone having it still function considering how often I play it. Thanks for the info clear-up Claimh Solais

No worries about it. I thought it was the same thing when I first saw it ages ago, and got let down by it, lol. Anyway, despite having a slim PS3, I'm still lucky enough to have a PS2 still in my possession.
